Tteokbokki: Korean Flavor Bombs
Rice cakes have never tasted so good!

Tteokbokki (떡볶이) is a popular Korean street food made from rice. Tteok means rice cakes and Bokki means fried. Tteokbokki is chewy rice cakes mixed in spicy, savory, and somewhat sweet Korean sauce. When it comes to rice, Asians do know how to get it right! Also, Asian cuisine without chili is just unimaginable!
Even though it is considered street food or finger food, once you eat it, it is might just become your comfort food. Because there is no fixed recipe for the sauce, you can have your sauce as spicy as you want. For our non-Korean friends, consider it gnocchi stirred in Asian flavors!
It is believed that the invention of Tteokbokki was an accident in a Korean-Chinese restaurant in the 1950s! Today, there are so many different versions of Tteokbokki in addition to the original one. So I tell you to look for a good Korean restaurant in town and ask them for Tteokbokki! And if you want to step up your game, go to your closest Asian market! Cooking Tteokbokki isn’t a Michelin star recipe!
This chewy, spicy and cylindrical rice cake is one hell of a carbs carnival!
