Truth Revealed! Medium Founder Writes Under a Pseudonym

Has anyone seen Ryan Fan and Ev Williams in the same place at the same time?

I logged onto Medium this morning the second I woke up. Eager to see the 147 new views and three notifications I may have earned overnight.

Instead, I was greeted by the Ryan Fan Fan page. My whole news feed was full of Ryan Fan articles. I assumed this was some Medium malfunction and moved to the next step in my “hoping I’ve gone viral” process.

Checking the Facebook groups.

I think Zuckerberg needs to change the name to Fanbook. Every group I saw there was Ryan. He was proudly trumpeting this latest curated masterpiece. He boasted that all his articles had been curated, immediately after publishing.

Intrigued — and annoyed, I delved deeper.

One story he wrote about his dog was curated in Cats.

One story he wrote about Medium was curated (against the Medium rules) before he even wrote it. He just logged into his account and was curated.

One story he wrote about the TV show Bachelor was curated in 27 topics including History, Politics, BLM, Data Science and TV shows that arent called Bachelor. The fantastic thing about this was it was curated while Ryan sat on his couch watching the Bachelor. He didn’t even write anything.

Curation seemed attracted to Ryan like a moth to a flame. How else can you explain that his WhatsApp family chat messages were all curated? Or that when he applied for a credit card, his application was curated?

His articles appeared in Better Humans, Better Marketing, Better Believe It, I Can’t Believe It’s Not Better and Better Ryan Fan. Publications were being created just for him.

I am not a conspiracy theorist (I know that 5G causes COVID, the earth is flat, and vaccines are the devil’s work) but something was fishy.

Then it hit me.

Ryan Fan. Fan. Sounds like a fake name. Sort of like a pseudonym you would create to write under. Perhaps if you were the founder and creator of a big site like Medium but wanted to do some writing anonymously?

Ev Williams = Ryan Fan.

Ryan Fan= Ev Williams.

That explains his success. His curation with every breath he takes.

Have you ever seen Ev and Ryan in the same place? No.

Using my investigative skills based on watching half an episode of 60 Minutes, I reached out to “Ryan” on my InstaFAN feed. From there a deep dive revealed his latest photo was taken in San Fransisco — at the same address as Medium Head Office. In fact, all his photos were taken there.

His latest follower was Colin Kaepernik — a recent addition to the Medium board. This was the final proof I needed.

Ev — you were smart. But not clever enough for this under curated and very jealous writer.

As an apology I will accept this article to be quadrupled curated and published on the Medium Home Page for 12 months.

Disclaimer:

This was written as a challenge by the editor of MuddyUm, Susan Brearley, due to Ryan’s recent success. It is well deserved, and you should read his…I mean Ev’s work.
