Trust Your Heart Space To Write
How to use your intuition creatively

“Intuition is seeing with the soul.” ― Dean Koontz
What if your ideas came straight from your heart? I believe this is the space in which we resonate most with others.
I have noticed something lately about writing, and which of my pieces seems to make the most difference to my readers. The articles in which I share my heart with compassion are the ones that thrive.
When we choose to write from our inner knowing, those words will easily flow onto the page and radiate out love and understanding to our readers.
Here are three ideas for using your intuition and help you come from your heart space to write.
Gather ideas from your heart
I have found that walks outside generate my best ideas. In nature, we encounter a stillness that is necessary for us to be in our heart space.
Often, I meditate while picking up sticks.
This exercise helps me focus on gathering something and is like a walking meditation.
During these walking sessions, I come upon ideas, memories, and moments in time that I want to write about. I play with them in my mind’s eye, having fun with the concepts.
When I gather ideas in this way, I let them simmer for a while. When they are ready to come out onto the page, I will be prepared.
Get into a state of heart coherence.
Heart coherence is a place of compassion and alignment.
According to Dr. Rolin Mcraty of the Heart Math Institute, “Coherence is the state when the heart, mind, and emotions are in energetic alignment and cooperation.”
To get into this state, we can place our hands on our hearts, breathe deeply, and think about a beloved person, pet, or memory.
I practice this now every time I write.
It feels fantastic, and it brings you to your heart space very quickly.
Set an intention for your article
Before I send a draft in to be edited and published, I say a prayer or intention over it. My hope is for it to touch someone’s heart and help them heal and feel joy.
With this intention, I feel gratitude towards the editor reading my piece and readers receiving ideas to help them.
It also allows me to pause and take a moment to feel appreciation towards my work and all writers on Medium and beyond. It is paramount that we pour love into everything we do.
How do you get into a heart space for writing? What is your process like? Please share with us in the comments. I appreciate you!
