Trust is Required for Transformation

2024 can be great if we allow time to aid our growth and goals.

why do we consistently fail our yearly aspirations to turn our lives around? maybe we shoot for the stars, when in reality, we can only handle building the rocket to get there,

we get tunnel vision, staring down the goal — the end to the means, we don’t prepare ourselves for the work — each individual step it takes to get there,

we become obsessed — must lose weight, must read more, must make more money,

we lose sight of the process, we stop appreciating our progress,

result? — we quit, thoughts spiraling, “it must not be working,” “all this work with no results,” “why am I depriving myself,” “I didn’t sign up for suffering,”

we cheat ourselves of actual transformation, all because we don’t allow time to work its magic,

how can we reverse this malicious cycle?

instead of hyper-focusing on goals, we build life rhythms, filled with habits that will get us to our goals,

we ask ourselves — “who do I want to become?” “what daily habits does that ideal person have?”

we start implementing those habits, one at a time, until they are etched into the rhythms of our lives,

the trickiest part? we must trust time to do its job…

especially at the beginning, our measly human eyes will only perceive minuscule progress, time understands the compound effect, time understands that a little progress, every day for a year, will become exponential growth,

what could we look like on December 31st, 2024, if we trust time to compound our better daily rhythms?
