Trump…The First N*gga President
He is the symbol of the gangsta culture going mainstream

The election of Trump has left many in agony wondering who could have voted for him. The group of supporters that view him as a real N*gga is often left out of the public discourse.
Trump would not be out of place in one of the various gangsta rap videos, as a matter of fact, he has been name-checked in many rap songs.
A large section of the population views arrogance, cruelty and greed as acceptable when delivered in a “cool way”.
This article will show how the imaginary of gangsta rap has helped Trump connect with a section of the public.
When gangsta rap emerged, various African American leaders were worried and viewed this genre as shameful. The late Cynthia Delores Tucker, a politician and Civil Rights activist, led the fight against this music.
The brilliant Mrs Tucker insisted that gangsta rap was misogynistic and a threat to the moral foundation of the African American community. She became a target and was rudely called out in many rap songs.
The public and media cheered and encouraged those rappers, painting the Civil Right activist as a bitter old woman. Despite all those cruel jibes, she never stopped fighting.
“You can’t listen to all that language and filth without it affecting you” (C. Delores Tucker).
As we mentioned before, gangsta rap is a mainstream genre of music and Trump rhetoric is as shocking as the lyrics of some of the songs. So why should one be acceptable and not the other? Both should be condemned.
It is thus important to explain what makes Trump a N*gga and connect with his supporters.
- He has five children from three different women. The stand out point is that he actually got married. That part is not “N*gga like” but the various baby mamas are on point.
- He became a billionaire, went bankrupt got it all back then lost some! His money problem is well documented but his supporters think bankruptcy is a sign of bravery. One should not forget that the media praised him to no end and hailed him as a savvy moneymaker!
- He is misogynistic and proud of it. There are many quotes that could prove this point but they are too offensive for this article. In fact, they could easily be included in the “Book of Niggalations”, a favourite of gangsta rap lovers.
- His rudeness towards various people is often celebrated as him being the “realest” N*gga in town!
- He likes to show off. Pictures of him surrounded by gold and diamond are infamous!
- In 2016 a church in Cleveland organised an event in support of Trump. It was the Midwest Vision and Values Pastors Leadership Conference. Don King, the former boxing promoter introduced Trump as the bad N*gga to the delight of the crowd.
Those six traits make Trump appealing to many, this is the reason why painting all his supporters in the same brush is misleading and dishonest.
The real issue should be why gangsta rap was promoted by the media and record labels? Why did we make it acceptable to publicly humiliate women in lyrics and videos?
Gangsta rap is loved by people from all race, gender and creed, nobody is guilt-free, so maybe we should acknowledge our mistakes and seriously look at the work done by Cynthia Delores Tucker to understand how one can defeat wickedness.
I used to listen to gangsta rap and ignore the most problematic lyrics but I must admit that this genre has to be challenged.
