Trump Supporters Are Not a New Problem
They’ve plagued humanity since the beginning of time

Trump supporters aren’t a new problem. I used to have to deal with them in grade school. They were the ones who used to pelt us with AA batteries, if we complained they’d admonish us for not thanking them for not using Cs.
Our school had a policy that you were supposed to wear shoes and shirts. The Trump supporters protested because all they had to wear was jean overalls and straw hats. They came to class with pink eye and hoof and mouth disease and crawled around on all fours.
No teacher was allowed to talk when I was growing up. Instead, the Trump supporters would sit in the back of the class and bray like donkeys. We tried to get them to stop, but the principal said it was their constitutional right. So did the local preacher. Those of us who wanted an education had to sit in the front row and strain to listen.
When the teacher explained mathematics in grade school, the Trump supporters wouldn’t take notes. They’d wait for me to finish taking notes and then steal my notebook. They didn’t steal it for the notes. They stole it to destroy it. If I fought back, I was punished.
I remember the Trump supporters in Astronomy class. We learned about Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and then we couldn’t go any further.
All my life, the Trump supporters have been obstructing progress and obstructing justice. They don’t do anything. They don’t offer anything. They just occupy space. They come up to you and want to tell you the new joke they came up with. The joke is always blatantly racist and they start to cry if you don’t laugh.
Trump supporters don’t care about your feelings. They laugh about the concept of feelings, then they become enraged when you kick them out of your life. They scream about how the world is “unfair.” They seem to have a lot of feelings. They seem to think the rest of us should care about what they feel.
Trump supporters accuse you of having a heart filled with “hate.” They go to the Capitol building and break in the windows. They run other vehicles off the road. They complain at conservative rallies that they aren’t allowed to use their guns on Democrats. It kind of seems like the Trump supporters are the hateful ones.
Trump supporters defend the right of every American to perform the Nazi salute. They want to make sure every school has a new copy of Mein Kampf because it is a piece of history. They don’t want classrooms to discuss slavery. They want American students to be taught the Civil War was a good idea.
They don’t think American children should ever have to “feel bad.” But then they say that everyone living in poverty is “lazy.” They also say they don’t care about anyone’s feelings. In truth, there is very little in their philosophy that isn’t self-contradictory.
Conservatives claim they want to eliminate the national debt. When elected, they add more to the debt than anyone else. Then they say that revenues are up and we have a spending problem not a money problem. But they won’t cut frivolous spending to the military. They call Social Security an entitlement even though we all pay in. When they call to cut Social Security, they never say they’re also going to cut the payroll tax. They want us to pay the payroll tax and not get any benefit.
Trump supporters stood outside the Capitol on January 6th and chanted “Hang Mike Pence.” Mike Pence will still go on television and reassert his loyalty to Donald Trump. If Mike Pence has such little concern over his own safety, what makes you think he cares at all about yours?
Trump supporters will sit in bars and complain all day about immigrants. My wife is an immigrant. Members of my family are Trump supporters. When they start complaining about immigrants in front of my wife, I point out that what they’re saying is hurtful. They look at me confused and offended and say, “Well, obviously, we’re not talking about her!”
Trump supporters are not accountable for their actions. They run people over with their cars. They kill people with their refusal to follow COVID-19 safety protocols. A Capitol police officer died after January 6th. None of these events have changed how Trump supporters feel about anything.
The history books show pictures of white men standing around black men that they have lynched. These are the most terrible images you can imagine. Not only did these white men murder an innocent human being in cold blood, they had a picture taken like it was a trophy. The images remind me of the photo of Donald Trump Jr. standing next to his kill on an African safari holding a knife like a phallus. These were the Trump supporters of a few decades ago. Their children grew up to be the Trump supporters of today.
In my neighborhood you aren’t allowed to hoist a flag that has a profanity. If you put a sign with a profanity in your yard, the cops come and tell you to take it down. Since November 3rd, many houses in my neighborhood have hoisted flags that say “F$#k Joe Biden.” I called the police about it. The police said, “There’s nothing we can do.”
Trump supporters claim we should support the military. Part of supporting the military would be to mention that 1.2 million black veterans were denied the benefits of the GI Bill after World War II. Trump supporters get mad when you mention such a thing, they claim talking about that is “disrespectful.”
Trump supporters are obsessed with a history of America that doesn’t exist. When the reality of what is going on in our country doesn’t fit their idealized image, they deny the facts and embrace their delusion. They bray like donkeys, they throw rocks, they shoot guns.
Now, we’re being told that we have to work with these people. The problem is that Trump supporters don’t work. They’re the reason we hated doing group projects in school. At best they did nothing, at worst they actively worked to sabotage the project. They thought it was hilarious when they could ruin the efforts of those of us who were trying to work hard for a better life.
“I guess you’ll be stuck here with me in this dead end town forever now! Hahahahahaha!”
They’re the ones who make us resent having to do a paying job as a group. They’re always the ones the rest of us have to make up for. They stand around with their foot on a shovel criticizing the work of those around them. They’re anchors.
When a person berates my child for speaking Spanish in public, it’s always an intolerant Trump supporter.
Always.
Today, my children don’t have to ride the bus. I take them. I don’t want my kids getting pelted with AA batteries. I tell my kids to wear a mask. We’re still in the pandemic. I’ve taught my kids to speak Spanish.
We’re waiting for the opportunity to leave this country. The Trump supporters are taking over. There’s no stopping them really, but it’s a self-destructive proposition. When there’s nothing but Trump supporters in the United States, the country will fail.
All cancers eventually consume the host.
The only silver lining is that Trump supporters can’t win. All we can do is prevent them from taking the rest of us down with them.
