Trump: Road Runner or Coyote?
Opinions from two writers, the Red View and the Blue View

We are DJB and Jim West, and we are starting a new project to bring you both sides of political issues. Jim will be providing the Red View, DJB the Blue View. We will assume that each of our beliefs are based on goodwill and positive intention. It’s important to understand this because much of the divide in our country comes from assuming evil intent upon the other. Too often, we assassinate each other’s characters with labels like “racist” or “Nazi” or “dope” without listening. Let’s stop doing that. We believe we can have disagreements while accepting the person. We hope our stories will enlighten, promote understanding and maybe even narrow the political divides in America. Your input is appreciated and encouraged; we just ask that everyone be respectful and civil in the comments.
To start this experiment, we open with something more light hearted. This election has been so heavy, like an anvil on our souls. Let’s try to have little fun.

So, is Trump the Road Runner or Wile E. Coyote?
The Red View:
After some intense and overwhelming research inspecting cartoons, it is obviously (and painfully) clear that Trump is the Road Runner.
First off, can we all agree that Trump has a limited vocabulary (Meep Meep)? See, even that isn’t a word, kind of like “bigly.” (It’s actually a word but hasn’t been used for 300 years. Thankfully, Trump stopped using it too.)
Secondly, aside from his speed, the Road Runner isn’t exceptional in any way. He doesn’t make elaborate plans or conjure up intricate escape routes to get away. He just runs. He’s kind of simple that way. When being chased by Wile E., who is closing ground because he has a missile strapped to his back, Road Runner just follows the road around the bluff or stops before the cliff while Coyote plummets to his fate over and over. Let’s just say the Road Runner is not playing 3-dimensional chess.
The interesting part is how well Wile E. Coyote represents the Democrats and the media. How many times have we seen the Dems and media set a trap for Trump: spying on his campaign, collusion with Russia, peddling influence on a Ukrainian phone call, impeachment, yet Trump always slips away. Again, he’s not brilliant about it. He just stops before the cliff to let the Dems and the media make fools of themselves while they get caught spying, and even their top coyote, Mueller, found no crimes.
Pelosi too, always knew that impeachment wouldn’t be successful because she didn’t have the Senate on her side, but she did it anyway, kind of like how Wile E. scans the pages of the Acme Catalog looking for a new trick to catch the avian speedster. He finds powerful magnets, rocket propelled roller skates, sticky tar, and giant malfunctioning springs. With his luck, he ought to know these tricks won’t work, but he uses them anyway, just like Pelosi.
One more: sometimes we see Wile E. Coyote focused on building his latest contraption when the Road Runner suddenly appears by his side and startles him with a meep meep. Coyote’s response usually starts a Rube Goldberg event where eventually a rock falls on his head. This is like when Trump started poking the bear (or coyote) back in the 2016 campaign when he said, “Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.” There was no laughter in the room because he was talking to humorless reporters, but the rest of us Road Runner fans thought it was pretty funny.
I rest my case. Given the antics of Wile E. Coyote and the ever elusive Road Runner, I think the evidence shows that Trump is the Road Runner. Have I made my case?
Jim’s other political articles:

The Blue View:
Jim makes good points about how the Dems, as the Coyote, have not been successful in their attempts to catch the not very elusive Roadrunning Trump.
I see the characters as representing different aspects of our society. To me, the Roadrunner is democracy in the United States. Trump, much like the Coyote, continually attempts to catch it, eat it and hide the bones. However, much like Wiley E., his attempts are clumsy, badly designed, and they blow up in his face.
Tragically, Trump is also like the Coyote, after things explode, he reappears almost immediately, unharmed, and is ready to attempt to destroy democracy again.
Jim lists several things that Trump has been accused of doing by the Dems, with the MSM exposing even more. Trump, until recently, has not suffered much for any of those transgressions — Russia, Ukraine, his arrested and convicted staff members, his exorbitant charges to the government for housing friends and Secret Service guards at his hotels, his tax avoidance schemes, and so many other illegal things that blow up in his face.
What Jim skips over, is that the poor Coyote is obviously guilty of all of these things, but he always has the backing of the Acme Company to protect him from any consequences. In this case, the Acme Company is the Republican Party.
What Trump asked for from the President of Ukraine was clearly extortion. Acme would not even look at the obvious evidence. They just cleaned him up and sent him off again. He put bombs under all the Inspectors General. Acme just sent him more bombs. The Dems took him to court. Acme sent him appeals, delays, and no final verdicts.
But now, something has changed. The Roadrunner of democracy has stopped at the very edge of the cliff. The Coyote has run off the edge and is out in mid-air spinning his legs as fast as he can. He is trying not to look down, but he knows that the big plunge is about to come. It will be a painful landing. The Acme Company has informed him they won’t sell him any more tricks. Even the President of Acme, William Barr, has told him the bag is empty. So did the vote counters in GA, PA, WI, MI, and AZ. Sadly, there are still a few lost souls who seem to be eager to jump off the cliff with him. But for now, democracy stands safely on firm ground.
Cyrus Vance, Jr. will be waiting on the valley floor with a fist full of subpoenas.

So what do YOU think? Road Runner or Coyote?
If there are any topics you would like to hear both sides of, Jim and DJB will definitely consider it. Just leave your ideas in the comments. ‘Till next time…..
