Trump or Trump Lite
I didn’t like Trump before he became president.
I used to go over to the houses of people who watched ‘The Apprentice’ and drop their toothbrushes in the toilet, fish them out, and put them back in the soap tray. Okay, I didn’t really do that, but since Trump has become president, I kind of wish I had.
I’ve met too many Donald Trump types in my professional life to endure that kind of personality in my leisure time as well. It seems like life is full of these mouth breathing morons who look at you through droopy eyelids and make unpleasant, unidentifiable body sounds as you try to explain something to them. When you’re done, they take an extra half minute to become aware of your presence again before vomiting out an inane, random, and incomprehensible comment before eventually stealing your ideas and attributing them to themselves.
Donald Trump types are the spoiled kids of rich dads who get promoted in a company and become an immovable obstacle on your way to any advancement or recognition. They’re a plague, and they’re everywhere.
Sadly, the DNC seems to be fully aware of our disgust for Trump, and they’re trying to leverage it into a race of “Trump vs Trump Lite.”
It’s sad how much work is being done to control the political narrative. Even folks I respect like Barack Obama are saying things like they don’t want to see too much of a progressive response because of Trump.
Why the hell not?
The political establishment is pushing a false narrative that the best way to defeat Trump is with a moderate rather than progressive candidate. Newsflash, we tried that in 2016. What was the result? You guessed it…TRUMP!
Claiming we need a moderate candidate stems from the utterly idiotic belief that elections are won by convincing the base of the other side to vote for you instead of them. Are you stupid? That’s not going to happen! There’s nothing Bernie or Biden or Warren or Harris or anyone can say to get a Trump supporter to vote for them.
Forget about bringing Trump supporters to your side, the key to winning in 2020 is to inspire people to vote WHO STAYED AT HOME IN 2016!
All of this should be obvious because our political leaders are supposed to be the wisest of the bunch. The fact is, they know that a progressive strategy is a winning strategy for 2020, but here’s the thing, the DNC would rather see Trump back in office than a progressive candidate.
Even in the “Blue no matter who” midterms of 2018, the DNC failed to endorse Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. By all rights, the media should be referring to her as the DNC’s fastest rising star. If you go on YouTube there are nothing but videos of AOC berating corporations for ripping off taxpayers. Oddly, the DNC seems to fear her as much as the GOP.
Why? Is it because she seems to actually listen to the will of the people rather than try and dictate it? She keeps making embarrassing comments about how our politicians are “paid off” by major corporations? If that bothers you then you shouldn’t be in office.
Look, don’t fall for the political narrative that’s being pushed down our throats. Don’t allow yourself to be lulled into this nonsense that it’s somehow the “safer” choice to run a moderate candidate. Above all, don’t be silent when you post or share an article like this, particularly when the bots come out and start babbling their sound bites about how the richest nation in the world can afford to spend trillions incarcerating people for smoking pot, but there’s nothing left over to ensure children have health care.
We can afford health care. We can afford education. The only problem is that if there’s one thing that unites Democrats and Republicans, it’s keeping progressives out of political office. They’re probably going to win in 2020 as well, but at least don’t make it easy for them by not challenging the false premise that big ideas aren’t practical.
