Guns are popular in Texas

Texas is a big and impressive state. Two United States Presidents were born in Texas, Dwight D. Eisenhower and Lyndon B. Johnson. Two other Presidents were not born in Texas, but they made or now make Texas their home state, George H.W. Bush and his son George W. Bush.

Donald Trump is busy campaigning. He recently had a rally in Texas to which his son Donald Jr. took his young son.

Bragging about letting your 12-year-old son build an AR-15 is not information that most parents would be sharing. It does not seem like a wise move. With so many teenagers getting into trouble with guns and shooting innocent people, you would think guns should be kept out of the hands of children. It is illegal for children of such young ages to have access to guns in most places in the United States.

There are people who own a number of guns who are anxious to teach their children about guns. They may buy guns for their children when they are too young to own guns. The parents would quite likely teach them gun safety and not let them have unsupervised access to guns.

Trump Jr. took his son with him to a Trump rally in Texas. An article by Morgan Keith in Business Insider stated: “Donald Trump Jr. brought his 12-year-old son to Texas for a Trump rally and let him build an AR-15 at a friend’s business.”

The Jr. Trump gave a speech at the rally for his father, the former President. He said that he took his son to make an AR-15 apparently at the business place of a gun manufacturer whom he called a friend.

Trump Jr. was quoted as saying about the experience of his son, Donald Trump III:

“Oh, I love Texas. And today, by the way, I got to do the most Texas thing ever. Since we came in late last night, I was able to bring my little son Donny to my buddy Dion’s manufacturing facility at F-1 Firearms. And Donny, little kid from New York City, now Florida, thank God, got to make his own AR-15.”

The article stated:

F-1 Firearms is a semi-automatic weapon systems manufacturer based in Spring, Texas, about 20 minutes south of the rally location. Dion Podgurny serves as CEO of the company, according to F-1 Firearms social media accounts.

Guns are not toys. They should not be treated lightly as playthings for children. Innocent people should not be killed by people with guns, which can be dangerous objects, and should be treated with respect. Assault rifles should not be in the hands of children.

Parents need to use good judgment with guns and children.
