He has been asking about it since 2017

People pardoned are guilty of something

It seems to be true that police groups across the United States supported Donald Trump in his quest to win a second term as President of the United States. With his apparent praise and support of the police during the protests and demonstrations which took place in many cities after the killing of George Floyd, Trump bragged about how the police were for him instead of Joe Biden in the election.

After the killing of Floyd appeared to be due to racism and police brutality against Black men, Trump blamed Democrats for any and all violence which came as a result of the protests. Trump said he supported the police so various police groups endorsed him.

Even though Trump claims to be for law and order, he is not one to comply when it comes to his own life. He appears to think he is above the law.

Now he is doing another unprecedented action by a President. As he continues to refuse to concede the 2020 election and claims that the election was stolen from him, he now is talking about giving pardons for his allies before he leaves office. That is nothing new, but he also talks about pardoning himself. That must mean he knows that he is guilty of wrongdoing.

Two Republicans who have proclaimed numerous times that Trump should be in prison after he leaves office are George Conway and Anthony Scaramucci. They have both said that they believe that Trump definitely belongs in prison for his many unlawful acts before and during his time in office.

In a CNN piece by Evan Perez, Pamela Brown, Jamie Gangel, and Jeremy Herb, they said that Trump has been asking aides since 2017 about whether he can self-pardon. One former White House official said that Trump asked about pardoning himself and his family members.

The article says: “Once he learned about it, he was obsessed with the power of pardons,” the official said. “I always thought he also liked it because it was a way to do a favor.”

Trump’s pardons would only cover federal crimes. They would not protect him from the ongoing investigations into the Trump Organization which are being led by the New York attorney general and the Manhattan district attorney.

Trump has already given pardons to a number of people. The article said that one person he is considering pardoning is the father of his son in law, Jared Kushner. The elder Kushner was prosecuted more than ten years ago by Chris Christie, who was then a U.S. Attorney.

Former aides to Trump are split on whether Trump would actually consider giving himself a pardon. Some see it as almost a certainty, but others believe it won’t happen because doing so would be like admitting guilt.

The Trump Presidency is unlike any other. He has acted strange for a President.
