Summary

The article discusses the inability of both Donald Trump and Joe Biden to unite America due to their polarizing political stances and actions.

Abstract

The author of the article asserts that Donald Trump's presidency was marked by division and narcissism, with his inability to represent all Americans leading to increased animosity. Looking forward, the author argues that President Joe Biden, despite having a Democrat majority, will not succeed in unifying the country either, as his policies, such as the Equality Act and expanded abortion rights, will likely only serve to satisfy one half of the nation while alienating the other. The article suggests that the underlying issue is not the presidents themselves but the clash of two fundamentally opposed worldviews in a society transitioning away from Judeo-Christian values, which were once the foundation of American society.

Opinions

  • Donald Trump is criticized for being excessively narcissistic and for creating division by only valuing those who supported him, leading to a lack of unity under his presidency.
  • Joe Biden's presidency is predicted to continue the trend of division, as his agenda, including the Equality Act and abortion rights expansion, is seen as only representing liberal views, not the entire nation.
  • The author believes that the Equality Act, while seen as a step forward for human rights by some, is viewed by others as an attack on religious freedom, indicating that its passage will not lead to unity but rather enforce uniformity.
  • The article posits that the current state of division in America is rooted in a deeper societal shift away from Judeo-Christian values, leading to a struggle over moral authority and the rights of different groups.
  • The author suggests that the nation is at a crossroads, with two opposing worldviews that cannot be reconciled, making unity under either Trump's or Biden's leadership unattainable.

Trump Did Not Unite America

Neither will Biden.

From the forefront, I want to be clear. Although this is a political piece, I am going to do my best to stay neutral in it. That is harder now than ever in these shark infested waters. I am also going to keep it brief and to the point. So, here it goes.

Trump did not unite America

Donald Trump is a narcissist. This shouldn’t be news to anyone, whether they support him or not. Let’s be honest.

In order to be president you have to at least have some narcissistic qualities.

Think about it. The way you become president is by convincing the nation that you are the best of the best. You get into this office by telling people you can do this job better than anyone.

The problem with Trump was that he didn’t know how or when to turn it off. If you supported him and did what he wanted, you were the best thing since sliced bread. If you disagreed with him (on anything), you were the very spawn of satan.

This is the ultimate recipe for division, animosity, and burned bridges. I personally know someone like this. Believe me, it goes nowhere good.

America was divided under Trump because he only represented some of the people.

Biden won’t unite us either

As it stands, Biden will take office with a Democrat majority across the board. This means he will have an open road to enact the liberal agenda. The problem is that only half of the nation agrees with that agenda.

For example, he will quickly pass the Equality Act. Many believe this will be a win for human rights. Many others believe it is a steamroller to religious freedom.

The passions are high on either side.

Passing this act will not bring unity. It will only force those who disagree, to comply, or face consequences. That is uniformity and it is a very different thing than unity.

The same thing can be said for any Covid related enforcement that may come.

Consider one more example. Half of the country considers abortion an issue of women’s rights. The other half considers it genocide. It is not possible to unite these two groups. Biden will likely expand abortion rights and accessibility.

This will excite half the nation and enrage the other half.

America will remain divided under Biden because he will only represent some of the people.

So what now?

Whether you like what I am about to say or not, it is true. From the founding of this country, we have operated our society based on Judeo-Christian values. That is, until now.

We are living in a post-Christian era. That gives us our unique situation.

We don’t know who we are as a society anymore, and each side is fighting to become the moral authority over the other.

In order to give one side the rights they claim, you must deny some rights to the other.

Our problem is not a president. Our problem is that we are split between two diametrically opposed worldviews that cannot mix together.

No matter what side of the aisle you stand on, this should be very concerning.
