Summary

The article expresses deep concern over President Trump's handling of the presidential transition, particularly his delay in conceding and the potential negative impact on his legacy and the nation's well-being amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The article critically examines the actions of President Trump during the presidential transition period, highlighting the potential for lasting damage to his legacy due to his reluctance to concede the election. It underscores the urgency for Trump to step aside and allow the incoming administration to address the worsening COVID-19 crisis, which has already claimed the lives of over a quarter of a million Americans. The author suggests that Trump's efforts to challenge the election results are not only futile and divisive but also detrimental to the country's ability to respond effectively to the pandemic and any other crises that may arise during this sensitive transition period. The piece also references former CIA Director John Brennan's tweets, which echo the sentiment that Trump's behavior is that of a sore loser and will tarnish his presidential record.

Opinions

  • Trump's refusal to concede and his attempts to hinder the transition are seen as detrimental to the country and its response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • The author believes that Trump's legacy will be marred by his handling of the transition and the COVID-19 crisis, potentially ranking him as one of the worst U.S. Presidents in history.
  • The article suggests that Trump's actions are self-serving and fail to consider the greater good of the American people, particularly as the nation faces record numbers of COVID-19 deaths.
  • Former CIA Director John Brennan is cited to reinforce the opinion that Trump's behavior is indicative of a "sore loser" and is severely damaging to his reputation and the country's democratic processes.
  • The author implies that Trump's delay in transitioning power could lead to further loss of life, for which he would be held responsible.
  • The piece conveys a sense of urgency for Trump to allow the presidential transition to proceed without further obstruction, labeling his actions as akin to those of a "war criminal-President."

Trump can carry on and whine and be a sore loser all he wants. At this point, America needs him to just get out of the way and let the grown-ups do their jobs. It was awfully nice of him to take a break from his narcissistic meltdown to allow the GSA to ascertain the election.

Nonetheless, as Trump tries to do anything and everything to hinder and throw obstacles at the Biden transition, Americans are dying in record numbers of Covid. It is only getting worse with the Thanksgiving Holiday this week, with so many gathering despite the warnings.

I want to plant one thought: How in the world does Trump possibly think this will end well? How can he think he will come out of this looking good?

He’s got over a quarter of a million Americans dead of Covid to his name.

He will go down as one of, if not the worst Presidents in the history of the U.S.

The longer he delays or undermines the “adults” stepping in and actually righting the ship, the greater the casualties and body count that will be added to his scorecard.

And with all of Trump’s election undermining and baseless challenges — that are laughable if they weren’t so dangerous and divisive. He’s done enough, thank you. He proved our democracy can take it — but not the way we should ever have to push that proof again. He’s proven more that he’s just a tiny, small man.

And, what if God forbid our country is attacked? That blood will be on Trump’s hands. He has tried to torch the house on the way out, and let’s hope there’s no gasoline around to accelerate it.

He will go down as the biggest sore loser. Not just the biggest loser.

John Brennan, Trump’s former CIA Director, put it best in four Tweets:

For someone always concerned for himself, it’s hard to imagine that Trump isn’t doing everything and anything to ensure that his legacy is the best possible. Instead, he’s doing the opposite.

He will go down in history like a war criminal-President. And I will keep writing to make sure everyone remembers.
