True Beauty Lies Within Ourselves

I am inspired by the young writer

The book launch

I was invited to a book launch by Young Mindz an online educational program for children. (I am their Honorary mentor and advisor.) I gladly accepted their invitation as a Luminary Guest. This book launch was held in a prestigious place in Delhi.

The book in question was about a young girl who was 14 years old and studied in British School. The program was graced by the school principal.

I was curious to know what the young girl had written. When I read the title it says “SCAR” The name of the girl in question is Tisya Asrani. The book had been edited by Dr. Tanvi Gupta who is the founder of the organization.

What a proud moment for the girl and the organization.

The young lady had a naughty brother who kept teasing her but also took several of her pictures and supported her. The parents were present and also the family members grandparents, aunts and uncles and all.

It was a glittering event with people from different walks of life.

The young lady was thin and small built and smiling. She was not afraid of the crowd. I loved her confidence.

Well, she had written a book so she must be confident.

The program went on well. I thought the Principal was wonderful and encouraging.

So much honor to a young lady. Now I am curious what she writes. I was presented with a book and I brought it home.

Two months and I kept wanting to read it but there was so much travel that I just did not get the time to pick it up and read it.

The Book ‘SCAR’

I was curious to know what such a young person could write about ‘scar.’

You will be surprised. Youngsters always surprise you and there is so much to learn from them. Some of them inspire you and you try to give tips to self-improve yourself.

It was a rainy day. I could not go out so I sat down and read the full book.

What does a scar mean in the book?

A scar is usually used in the negative sense. Tisya writes about a perfect face and body to be something to be unhappy about as others have scars and they do not accept those who are perfect among their fold.

According to me, everyone strives for perfection.

Tisya says that all her friends have some scar or the other but her character Mindy has no scars and so she is shunned. She is too perfect and so people do not want to have her as their friend. These thoughts are creative and are out of the box thinking.

Mindy even tops in the class. She tries to help other students but they want to move away from her and do not want to be seen with her.

Finally, she is able to break into only two people, Ariana and Daniel, who she helps. Daniel asks for help from all his friends and no one is ready to do so amongst his existing friends but Mindy is always by his side and ready to help even though he does not want to be seen with Mindy. However, a pure relationship of friendship does develop between them as he realizes his mistake.

Tisya comes to terms

Close to the end of the story Mindy falls and gets a deep gash on her face and she says “I am like you all now.” I have a scar too. I am no longer perfect.

The takeaways

  • There is always something you can learn from young people and be inspired by them. Keep your mind open to receive something new from them. So do not discard them,
  • We become adults and forget to read and imbibe. We read and often miss the lesson behind it. Our ideas become routine and we continue to think in the same manner.
  • Young people are more creative. They look around and have several new experiences. Out of it, they get creative ideas. We can be more mindful of what we do and we will get better results and we will be less distracted.
  • Sometimes you shun people and they are the ones who actually help you, so do not judge their exterior looks but what is stored in their wonderful heart. They are the kind of people who you should actually mix with. This is such a big lesson for us.
  • True beauty lies within oneself try to achieve it and maintain your integrity without worrying about scars as physical appearance keeps on changing.

Closing words

Tisya drives home the point that whether a person has a scar or not they will still belong. The family and friends will continue to support each other. Physical scars will fade but a scar in the soul is dangerous so integrity and trust are a must to keep the soul free of any scars. The final lesson is that true beauty lies within ourselves.

What a lovely write-up with a lesson. We should learn from such young writers who write from their hearts. It is raw and beautiful. It brings joy and hope for the future.
