WRITING CHALLENGE
Triple Centina Writing Challenge
Stories from three POVs
Greetings PW writers! We have a new monthly challenge for you here at PW. This challenge is the brain child of Christine Graves and it should prove to be both fun and challenging!
THE RULES
- You must be a PW writer and you must submit your piece to PW. If you are not a PW writer, you may ask to be added by going to the Submissions page and commenting there. Do not comment to be added here!
- You may enter as many stories as you’d like, but only (1) one will be chosen as a winner.
- The story must follow the guidelines exactly.
- You must have a clearly stated, relatable Title.
- Use ‘Response for the Triple Centina Writing Challenge’ as your Subtitle. Entries without a Subtitle will not qualify for the challenge. Do not expect an editor to remind you or add a subtitle for you.
- Use an appropriate image for your story and cite it properly. Editors will not remind you of this.
- You must use the following three tags — Fiction, Centina, and Writing Challenge. The other two tags are whatever you wish them to be. Entries without those three tags will still get published in PW, but they will not qualify for the challenge. Do not expect an editor to add these tags for you.
- Tag me (@ravynehawke) at the end of your poem with a link back to this challenge. Entries that do not include the tag or link will not qualify.
- All entries are due by June 30th at 6:00 pm US CDT. Use this converter to make sure your story is in on time.
- Winner will be announced on July 7th.
THE CHALLENGE
- Write a triple centina, three 100-word stories
- Each story is seen from a different POV (Point of View) on the same topic/scene/plot — these different POVs can be from characters in your story, inanimate objects, nature/natural world, animals, or a combination of any of these.
- All three centinas are to be included in one story with the divider (. . .) or an image between them.
- Only one Title is to be used.
You may use any of the prompts available here at PW — prompts can be found under PROMPTILICIOUSNESS. Or, you can come up with your own stories using your own imagination. If you use a PW prompt, be sure to include a link to the prompt’s page.
If you need further explanation on this challenge, leave a message in comments. You can also ask for Rose Malana’s editing services by emailing me at [email protected] or ask her directly if you are a member of the PW Slack group (see below on how to join).
