Trees Give You Joyful Solace
How to find yourself on a bad day

“One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.”
― William Shakespeare
When tears fall, Heart crushed, Spirit deflated, Nature holds me.
At a moment of despair, Green leaves, Calming bark, Bring solace.
Feeling great energy, From a living being, Embracing a tree, Calm inside.
Branches of love, Envelop my soul, Allow me to breathe, Find my center.
This poem is in response to Sahil Patel’s prompt:
What do you do on a bad day? Are there any special things you do to transfer your bad day into a good one? Share an activity that makes you smile on a bad day.
Trees are always my friends on a bad day. When I feel low, I look to nature for good energy. Hugging a tree, feeling its love, and sitting beneath it always makes me feel comforted and safe.
When I was a child, I spent hours playing up in a cherry tree, feeling supported and with no cares in the world. Today trees give me that same feeling of joy.
One summer day in 2020, I felt overcome with sadness on many levels. Nobody in my family understood. I went outside and sat underneath my favorite maple tree and cried until peace washed over me.
I want to thank my lovely writer friends for their friendship, support, and healing over these past two years. It is an honor to know you. Lady Dr. Gabriella Korosi, Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles, Dr. Preeti Singh, and Pene Hodge.
Thank you, Sahil Patel, for this poetry challenge. It is a beautiful way to grow, share and love in our community.
