Trees Dance in Valleys
A haiku

Trees dance in valleys from golden flames to billows of smoke and ashes.
I was watching the trees sway at the bottom of a hill. The color and the movement reminded me of fire. The trees without leaves looked like smoke and ash. I thought of our own lives — those moments in the valley when the last thing we feel like doing is “dancing.” I found courage from the trees because even as they lose their vibrancy they dance. They endure the fire of winter and are transformed, and then made vibrant again in spring. So it is with so many seasons in life.
