Summary

The website content introduces the February banner and writing prompt for the Weeds & Wildflowers community, thanking contributors and encouraging the discovery and sharing of personal "treasures."

Abstract

The February edition of the Weeds & Wildflowers publication features a banner photo by Ré Harris and a writing prompt inspired by Lynne Nardizzi's work. The prompt, "What treasures have you discovered today?" invites community members to reflect on and share the unique and beautiful aspects of their daily lives, whether grand like the sky or as simple as a dandelion. The author emphasizes the importance of being present and appreciating the treasures around us, regardless of the season or environment. This monthly prompt is open-ended and does not expire, allowing for continuous engagement and creativity within the community. The author also acknowledges the hard work of current contributors and extends an invitation to new ones.

February Banner & Writing Prompt

First, I want to thank Ré Harris for the February Weeds & Wildflowers banner photo. She used her wonderful sky shot in this post:

Next, I want to thank Lynne Nardizzi for unintentionally giving us our February writing prompt. In her piece that I published earlier today:

She asked:

What treasures have you discovered today?

Since I started my Walking & Yard Tales series, I’ve become hyperaware of the treasures around me.

Treasures may be as big as the sky:

As small as a polka-dot wasp moth:

As lovely as a duck at sunset:

Or, as plain as a dandelion:

As unexpected as a rainbow without rain:

Or, as ordinary as your neighborhood street:

Your treasures may be outdoors as most of mine are or they may be indoors like your sleeping dog:

Or, a favorite book:

As winter digs in some places and spring creeps into others, as some of us are snowbound or hiking and others are sun-walking or surfing, we can add to life’s experiences by paying attention to the treasures around us — by being present.

To quote Lynne Nardizzi again:

What treasures have you discovered today?

And, that is our February Weeds & Wildflowers prompt — share with us the treasures you discover as you go about your day.

As always, this prompt has no time expiration. Please tag any responses with this tag:

I am tagging the current Weeds & Wildflowers contributors. If your name should be here and isn’t, please know it’s nothing more than an oversight by a woman who is very tired from working seven-days-a-week.
