Treasured Times
Trophies from a life I hold close

We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect― Anais Nin
That coffee take away Round the corner, Standing in a queue A smile from a stranger, Unknown yet familiar — Falling sun, my shadow tall, When my heart strummed Like a burbling waterfall.
My beeping cell phone At mid of night, A stranger asking me To keep him in my heart alright, I turn off my cell, turn aside To wake up in the morning Forgetting the plight.
A cloudy day, sweet wind Blowing, Two cuckoos sitting in a bough Cooing, I turn my mind to my laptop dreary, Completing task, Away from nature’s diary.
It’s raining in torrents, Me under an umbrella, Waiting for it to end, Dancing in rain those Shelter-less fellas, Frightful of catching a cold, I refuse to wet my sole, Ignoring the serene In nature’s novella….
Now that I sit ’n think,
Were they cues from the cosmos I missed? To belong to the greater World where humanity In big fold exist, Satiate my gypsy mind To my heart's content, To adorn my life to my Soul’s intent!
Maybe I will never know — But as my heart awakens To this realisation aglow, Like a pearl in an oyster, Will be housed in the Warmth of my heart —
Those moments in time Will be treasured till last!
In this real world we live, we give no credence to our wool-gathering mind. Any thing out of ordinary or monetarily unproductive, which may have touched our soul, is shoved down our colon as irrelevant. Running the race for the trophy, we forget, life’s real gifts are not found in decorated cupboards but by listening to the call of our soul. Working around the prompt I realised, that only through inking our thoughts, we make sure those treasures are not lost in time.
