Traveling From Portland, Oregon
Airport Experiences

I had a late-night flight out of Portland this past Saturday. My flight was scheduled to leave at 1105pm. I got to the airport very early to have plenty of time to get through security before my flight.
To my surprise, few people were at the airport when I arrived. I went through security very quickly and had many hours to spare before my flight. As you can see in the picture many halls were pretty empty.
As I was walking through toward my flight area I come upon this wonderful photography collection that was on display. The photos that were featured on the walls were by nature photographer Deb Stoner. Amazing colors and nature. I could not stop myself and took some pictures. I had to take my pictures at an angle to prevent the white light from reflecting in the middle of the photos. I kept the 1st one with the white light to show you what I mean.

The first picture had amazing vegetables and flowers on it. The colors popped out beautifully. I was standing in front of the picture wanting to bite into a juicy tomato. I love the color combination of the red and green shades.

The next picture had beautiful flowers on it. The tulip in the middle is so vibrant like it was just picked from a garden. I love the color combination of greens and pinks in this picture.

The next picture was lovely greens and opening flowers. I love the combination of greens and flowers. White colors complement the green very well with a touch of color from the pink and red blooms. Beautiful.

The next picture was of beautiful roses with different stages of blooming. The colors bring nature into the white walls of the airport and create something beautiful to look at while I was making my journey down the hallway.

The final picture in the collection shown was a lovely picture with more popping colors. I love the flow of the picture and the movement of the flowers within the stillness. It is a beautiful combination.

I was grateful that I had plenty of time to spare so that I could stop by and admire these beautiful photographs. It was interesting because the staff also liked this area. 3 people from the airport were taking their break on the chairs close by and one more person stopped by to rest while I was there.
I continued my journey down the hall to section D where my flight was leaving from. In this section of the airport, there were multiple gift shops, a few restaurants, and waiting areas. I looked through the shops that were open and checked out the menus of the restaurants.
There was a sushi place that looked good. I started to look at the options when the sushi chef told me it is close to closing for him and he is not making new orders at this time. I started to look at the options available in the refrigerator. Then he looked at me and said:
“I close in 20 minutes. Why don't you take two and one will be free. “
I asked him:” Are you sure”. He said yes. It was a very kind offer and I took two of the sushi options. I left him a nice tip. Since I still had many hours before my flight this was my lunch and dinner.

It was a very nice gift. Especially as airport food is not cheap. I saved my second sushi for later and walked around a bit more at the airport. Later I found a seat where I can charge my phone and eat my dinner. I was looking through notes I made in my journal and messaging friends and family.
To my surprise, in about 30 minutes a lady who was working at the burger place walked up to me and said that she just made some fresh fries but they are closing. She asked me if I would like some. I was getting my second free food offer in one day. I have not had fries for a very long time. I debated for a second look around, there were not many people. I said yes. The fries become my late-night snack.

I had a very nice experience at the airport. It was nice that things were quiet, there were no long lines and waiting. It was a great surprise to get free sushi and fries. The plane boarding and flight were smooth experiences as well.
I could not sleep on the plane. I think I was excited about the trip and could not sleep. It could have also been the coffee I got at the airport. Arriving in Florida the temperature was much higher and it was nice to walk out of the airport and see the lovely sunshine.
Of course, what made my day was seeing my daughter. 💖💖💖✨✨
