Summary

The web content is a free verse poem that reflects on the experience of beach clean-ups by Trash Hero, highlighting the environmental impact of littering and the need for community involvement and education to address the issue.

Abstract

The poem "Trash Hero’s" by an unnamed author on the undefined website vividly describes the arduous task of volunteers collecting trash on a beach in South-East Asia. It portrays the physical strain and emotional toll of dealing with an overwhelming amount of waste, including plastic cups, straws, and fishing debris, which pose a threat to marine life. The poem conveys frustration towards local apathy and the absence of community members in the clean-up efforts, questioning their apparent lack of concern for the environment. It acknowledges Trash Hero, a Swiss company, for organizing these global clean-ups, but also emphasizes the urgency for societal change to prevent the need for such heroics. The author calls for action, education, and government lobbying to combat the environmental crisis, suggesting that the human race may be nearing its end if apathy continues to prevail.

Trash Hero’s

a free verse poem on beach clean up’s

Here on the beach You find the volunteers, Trash heroes with so much Rubbish to collect! Plastic fantastic will break your back Pull your hamstrings for the Hour and a half in the Island’s tropical heat.

Plastic smoothie cups and straws are too popular These days, keeping you going For an eternity or more. Fishermen’s cheap polystyrene floats Coupled with gas bottles, lightbulbs And a billion lighters, Dearly costing marine life.

Watch out in the undergrowth! You may find more than you bargained for.

Entwined in fishing line The stink of dead crabs Are nothing compared to the delightful Ripe pufferfish stench! Oh yes to retch is to feel a sense You’re alive, as your eyes fill With stars, unable to stop your hearty gag While your eyes try to pop out.

Water will find some sense of relief As you look at your watch slowly ticking away. It’s one more hour to go and So much more to collect, This shit is never-ending, This beach will take weeks!

So back to the bending, collecting And cursing, questioning Where are the locals? There should be more as this is local shit!

I’m not feeling the love here, Surely they care? No? they don’t care, and I feel A saddening in the depths of my heart.

Surely they watch their News programs? Some education shining a light Onto this world situation. Or is it just blind laziness?

Trash Hero, a swiss company Leading us here in South-East Asia For the beach clean up’s, As they do around the world on Uneducated beaches of trash, Hosting the flow From rivers of rubbish Graciously filled by local apathy.

The solution here is far from secure As human nature is fast in coming To the end of its very short cycle. Trash hero will be no longer be needed To prick the apathetic shame Of an expired human race.

Time now more than ever to shake off apathy Lobby governments lobby ourselves and act…
