Trapped

A poem about feeling trapped

Photo by Jian Xhin on Unsplash

Feeling trapped

Stuck at home

Staring

Through a window

Seeing the garden

Seeing trees sway

The grasses flicker

The flowers bloom

Yellow, red, purple,

My heart rate

Thundering away

As I guess

I will be stuck here

For another day.

Hearing nothing

But the

Whistling wind

Howling

A reckless feck,

Blowing disease

Amongst us

Terrifying

Our trapped

Bodies,

Strapped tightly

Nowhere to go

No fickle of glow

Nothing to do.

Away from others

Waiting for it

To blowback

Killing it

Trapping it.

The sun appears

Walking into the garden

Feeling the warmth

The sun

Upon my face

No longer trapped

Breathing in

The fresh air

Once again.

But alas

The disease

Is still there

Lingering

In the air

Waiting for it

To attack

The vulnerable

Like us.
