Transmogrification of a Regenerative Entrepreneur
After getting out of the Marines post 9/11, I decided I wanted to be a creative more than a jarhead, so when I got out and I embarked on the mission of surviving on my creativity. While attending the prestigious Temerlin Advertising Institute in 2006, I nabbed my first internship with design master Art Garcia at Graphic Content, who taught me the ropes and inspired me to entrepreneurship. Art helped conceive the idea of Adbongo and we used his portfolio to get our first few clients before I had any work to show!
Art taught me a lot about design but my studies focused on market research, media planning, and creative strategy which, it turns out, is exactly the thing business owners want to skip and they only want a logo or website. I learned a lot over the years but I really suffered as well. In college, I remember one of my professors said “This is the only industry where the client is always wrong”.
After about 5 years of experimentation, out of 50 clients, only one gave me an actual marketing budget to manage! After making a low budget commercial, we planned and implemented some media and within the year, they were a million dollar operation. The rest of my clients hired me for more mundane tasks, usually wanted me to bootstrap them, and when I succeeded (for a small fee), they would fire me for being too expensive! Oh, the torturers of small business thinking.
After taking years of abuse, I hatched a master plan to provide clients more value and sometimes added “master” level research institute students to the task of market research for preparation of a proper marketing plan. Out of 6 businesses, I put through the college program, 0% gave me a marketing budget.
I am about ready to shed the skin, and evolve the platform with more resilience, value, and super natural witch craft because the only way I’m going to get through peoples thick skulls is with the help of sorcery. Thus, I hereby consecrate this portal as sacred space for the advancement of mankind and regeneration of the planet. Stand by for our “Super Impact Master Plan” which should post soon.
