Transitioning Gracefully : Navigating The End Of Summer Blues

I don’t know about you but every year around about August, I find myself fighting the very subtle appearance of the “End Of Summer” blues.

For me, it’s not even because it’s the end of summer. It just so happens to coincide with the mid year point of my birthday. As each year goes by and I look at my life and see the goals that I have not reached, I can sometimes become sad and struggle to focus on the things that I have accomplished for the year.

I know I am not the only one who feels like this. Most of the year is gone and we are almost through the 3rd quarter with just one more quarter to go.

Even if this year ends without me accomplishing everything that I set out to do, I’m determined to end stronger than when I started.

Here are some of the things that I plan to do to better deal with the “End Of Summer” blues this year.

Be flexible with your emotions. I always believe in acknowledging our emotions regardless of what they are. It’s ok to feel a little sad. Try not to focus on the negative thoughts though. Focus more on the positive memories of the year. One thing that I started doing last year was to write weekly accomplishments and put them in a gratitude jar.

Reassess goals for the year. The year is not over yet. What are some goals that you set initially that may need to be adjusted? Or maybe some new things that have come up that you need to add. You may find that what once was important may not be so now and you need to find a way to pivot.

Do what you love. Whatever brings you joy, make sure that you are taking time to do them. Don’t get so focused on work that you forget to play. Take a trip. Go for a walk. Take an art class. Indulge in self care. Whatever raises your vibrational frequency, do it.

Connect with friends and family. Even if you are an introvert, everyone needs to have a support system. Checking in with the people who are important in your life whether it is in person or virtually can help lift your spirits.

Practice gratitude. This should always be daily practice. It is a key component for manifesting and operating in abundance. If you can’t be grateful for what you have, why would you receive more. It’s also very hard to stay in a depressed state when you shift your focus to gratitude.

I’ve come to accept that seasonal changes are a natural part of life, and each season offers its own unique opportunities and experiences. There’s nothing wrong with feeling a little down and it can be challenging to move past those feelings.

Doing some of the above techniques can help with transitioning into the next season with a positive mindset and help you make the most of what the new season has to offer.
