Abstract

The "Yellow Butterfly Series" is a poignant compilation of poetry by Jade Willow that explores the depths of human emotion, particularly focusing on the pain associated with loss and depression. The series, featured on Medium, includes a piece titled "Transform Pain Into Rain," which metaphorically suggests turning emotional suffering into a force of renewal and growth. Through evocative imagery and personal reflection, Willow expresses the struggle of coping with the absence of a loved one who chose a different path, leading to feelings of abandonment and unresolved questions. Despite the emotional turmoil, the narrative voice resolves to embrace the present and find strength amidst the darkness, suggesting that even in the midst of sorrow, there is an opportunity for personal transformation and the emergence of something beautiful, much like rain nourishing the earth.

I miss you on Sundays the most The smell of barbecue and pools Everyone telling their corny jokes The easiness of the day always got me The crispy air filled with cigarettes and smoke The wind blowing in my hair if I let it down The oils bothering my face, but you could never tell A smile always wrapped up in pretty lace

Conflicted I wonder why you prioritized everything over me I wonder why I never got to truly know you I wonder why you didn’t let me in I only wanted to help you and save you from your sins

But you decided another path You decided to make your bed and take your bath You decided to act like everything was good and cover it up with a laugh Now you’re gone, and I’m dealing with grief and wrath But that’s the thing, you can only stay in the present You can’t change the past This is the only moment we have This is the only thing that will last

So I’ll make the best of this pain I’ll turn this darkness into beautiful rain Sadness and depression can greet me But this storm can’t defeat me I’m here to stand by your side Though you were never by mine
