POETRY
Transcendental
The joy of pausing and being present.

Little bell, little bell In the middle of the day You made me pause for a moment Just to listen
And in the pause I found my joy Fired me up, made me whole Showed me the miracle That in my day had been missing
Had you not beckoned to my senses To take this moment from the present This day would have passed me unawares And not been quite so transcendental
Now there’s a skip in my step A smile where one had been missing And by golly — today is Monday Will you come back just to remind me, little bell?
Those of you who know my geographical location must know that I should be sleeping. I was. I tried. But this little poem, that caught a spark from Charlotte Zobeir Ali’s Monday poem, nagged me until I completed it.
So here I am.
A short poem just to remind you that every day is precious. Every day comes with new possibilities. And if you pause to pay attention — to your breathing, a sound, a scenery — you just might notice one miracle and then another every day of the week.
