Trans Journey Day 114: I’m watching Drag Race Season 14 and I am so loving this whole unspoken thing about the ‘straight guy’ having to come out. It’s such an interesting twist on privilege and minority.
He said something that I felt in my soul — “This community was built on love and acceptance.” But he was worried about how they would react when they learned he was cishet.
It’s seriously crazy to watch this because everything he is saying, all of his fears, like, “I don’t want everyone to judge me on my sexuality,” reflects things we say in the rainbow mafia.
Isn’t this evidence that ‘minority’ is based on circumstance and societal construction? Like, isn’t this enough on its own to deconstruct the bullshit?
Just my thought for the day!
