Townspeople — Am I Apart of That?

I’m reminded of those small towns in the TV shows I grew up watching. So small that everyone knew everyone and all the business they had going on.

I mentioned in previous articles that I live in a small town. City life has left me thinking that I’m a mere citizen of a larger community.

But as I was driving through to the town restaurant to pick up my call in lunch order, the car in front of me was in such a hurry that it cut several people off in traffic. The speed limit is 25 on that road, where ya going slicker? I chuckled to myself as I said out loud to no one at all “The townspeople wouldn’t like this.”

As if I don’t live here too. I am the townspeople.

Furthermore, I realize that I must be on the outside of the townspeople because I literally have no idea what’s going on. I haven’t the slightest clue as to where the town hall meetings are being held.

I imagine that there’s this one leader person that speaks for everyone on the ongoing issues. But what are they? I bet this leader person is kind of a big deal and doesn’t have to pay for anything at our local Coffee shop, yes the one Judas took over.

I’ve been living here for 3 and a half years and I never thought of myself to be a town’s person. Is there a group going out tonight with torches? My imagination runs wild.

We do have the cute little festivals that don’t happen anywhere else. I’m sure the mayor makes an appearance all smiles, kissing babies. If I do make it out and I do have a baby, don’t kiss mine!

Townspeople. I’m with it!
