Medium Curated “WOMEN” and “EQUALITY”
Tough Lady Carvers
Press Play & Strut

Two years ago, Maii designed a unique gift for my birthday. A poster she personally conceived by blending, as an homage to me, the quote ‘Girl Power’ with my new life motto ‘Press Play & Strut’. Appreciating it, I promised her I would use this inspirational artwork on Medium.
I am not a feminist.
I am for equality of genders.
Natural equality of genders without pejorative labeling.
I should not get a job because I am a girl.
I should not be hired to complete a company’s woman gender quota.
Competency should be recognized on talent and not based on gender.

When a lady criticizes or complains, she is automatically tagged as a whiner.
A man disapproves and protests is seen as an ambitious guy.
A lady who gets angry is labeled as a hysteric (under forty) or a menopausal bitch (over forty).
While a man is seen positively as having a strong character and an example as a leader.
Why such a large gap of labels?

I realized with my birthday poster print that even not being a feminist, most of my female influential idols are strong girls.
I have no patience for drama queens who take no responsibilities and wastes their entire lives victimizing themselves.

I admire ‘wounded’ and ‘scarred’ women who have gone through rough times and were still able to heal positively. Yes, they were hurt and lived with their pains for long periods.
I respect them for their strength in character. They went through their life’s bumps keeping their heads up high and moving on. Still caring for their loved ones without ever falling back on their fate.
Admirably, mostly never complaining. No trace of bitterness or hate in their veins. Immune to self-victimization.

Picked up whatever they needed to go on. Paused. Taking time to breathe. Recuperate from their last blow. Lifted their sleeves and went on in survival mode to continue their course.
Advancing essentially on instinct. Without looking back. Without worrying too much about tomorrow.
Living on a day to day basis rocked by the sound of their laughter.
Uncovering spare inner vigor to even bring happiness to others while living life with all its magnificence.

Master of their domain, both hands on the stirring wheel, performing a 180 degree detour embarked on a road trip to happiness.
Left a good job in the city Workin’ for the man ev’ry night and day And I never lost one minute of sleepin’ Worryin’ ‘bout the way things might have been
Big wheel keep on turnin’ Proud Mary keep on burnin’ Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river
Cleaned a lot of plates in Memphis Pumped a lot of pane down in New Orleans But I never saw the good side of the city ’Til I hitched a ride on a river boat queen
Big wheel keep on turnin’ Proud Mary keep on burnin’ Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river
If you come down to the river Bet you gonna find some people who live You don’t have to worry ’cause you have [if you got] no money People on the river are happy to give
Big wheel keep on turnin’ Proud Mary keep on burnin’ Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river
Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river
