Touch Humans, Not Screens

Touch humans, not screens
Slowly but surely, the human is being Deprived of a slice – of his or her meaning; Deprived more and more severely of meeting One of our deepest, free, basic needs – see;
We need to be seen, need our voices heard; Love – We need to be touched. We yearn for it.
The high of a first shared gaze, with a Shared thought and a shared feeling; Hands grazed;
The tingle from your and my voices, Joined in laughter, resonating… amazing.
When was the last time you truly touched A Live human being, beyond the screen?
Not to be taken all too literally and directly (#metoo, anyone?) this is an excerpt from my book “Life Beyond the Touch Screen”.
I thought about sharing this poem today because it’s so incredibly fitting, I think, for the times we live in.
Of course, my dear reader, continue to be safe and be careful. But please – don’t forget that humans need connection (and physical touch) nearly just as much as we need water or air.
Stay safe, take care of yourself and your loved ones.
And be sure to give someone very close and very dear to you an extra tight hug, or two, this weekend.
My new book “Life Beyond the Touch Screen” is out now, you can get it here as an e-book or paperback. It’s a meditational booklet designed to increase our consciousness around the impact of digital technology on our lives as individuals, in organizations and society. A reminder to choose. Take back your energy, focus, and time.
