Torrid the Terrible…

I felt the tear drops slide down my face. My nose was stuffed, could barely breathe. I hated crying, but I just couldn't stop. I snuffed the snot up my nose and thought, get ahold of yourself. THREE. TWO. ONE. I opened my eyes and stood up. I'm not going back this time; she can send the whole town. “let's go Torrid”. “I want to be as far away from here as possible before sundown.” The small, tiny creature sitting on the rock by me, also stood up to leave. “alllrity les go”. He was so hard to understand after he ate that moss on the rocks. It reminded me of when my uncle had too much of his drink in the afternoons. Words slurring and a bit of a stumble in his walk he started walking to me, “ur leeggs are by fer lenger then miiine dear”,”Should u fancy to carreyyyy meeee??” I reached down and he climbed on my hand and up my arm and sat on my shoulder. “Now then deeear.””Taaalllyhooooo!!!!!”. I laughed and wiped my face with my robe. “I don't know where I would be without you Torrid.”. I felt a pinch on my shoulder and realized that little sucker had stabbed me with his knife. “plllease blieve deeear, when tha sun sets, if u no fin me friendsss ,we will no beee friends either.” Ah yes. “hopefully these friends of yours will help us Torrid, or we’ll both be off to the black wood I'm afraid.” “hang on” I reached down and grabbed my bag and staff. I threw dirt on the fire and turned towards the road. ‘For where we go, you'll need ice in your veins, not that moss you stuff in your mouth.’ I jeered. “You jus keeep those long legz walkin lady, and I nap”. He folded part of my robe around him and closed his eyes. I knew I should never had made a deal with a damn fairy. A non flying fairy at that. He did claim he could fly when he didn't eat moss. Which I hadn't seen yet, and it had been 2 weeks since we left. Shaking my head and rolling my eyes, I started walking down the path to the mountain, and hoped that moss eating fairy knew what he was doing.
