Torn Between Two Loves

Business Class or Europe?

Remember how I flew Business Class to Europe in September 2019?

I booked it a couple of months before I left Australia — I had to change my flight by three days — not a problem.

Remember this one?

I think my claim has come back to bite me on the bum!

So I am planning to fly to Europe in 2023.

I would like to fly out around the 18th of July (Caelin’s birthday is July 16) and be back in Australia by December 25th.

Not looking for a specific date.

I’ve been looking online unsuccessfully and thought I’d have better luck speaking to a Qantas consultant — they have access to programs that the intending passenger doesn’t. I always use a real person for international travel.

I spoke to a lovely gentleman named Balé who searched and searched every day from 18 July to 22 November travelling to anywhere in Europe.

There is not a single business class seat available! He advises calling every day as they release seats for frequent flyers when they see their flights aren’t filling up.

So am I prepared to fly economy class for more than a day to get to Europe? I honestly don’t think I can. The last time my legs swelled up like an elephant’s even though I always wear compression pantyhose.

I was super sweet asking him how his day was going and genuinely thanking him for doing the searches for me. I can be really nice on the phone when I want something.

Oh damn, I’m really nice most of the time, aren’t I?
