Top-of-the-Line
He had never been good with women, but when he saw the phenomenon of top-of-the-line digital partners grow, he tried her and fell in love.

Cinda looked stunning. Alton could not keep his eyes off of her. He appreciated that she had to do so much more to be as beautiful as her counterparts.
She moisturized all the time, even though he was sure she did not need to. But it made her skin unbelievably soft to touch when they made love. He could not keep his hands off of her.
He hated that people thought that that was all they were about. Generations ago, people would think that was all her kind was for. But now that AI was practically indistinguishable from their human counterparts, Cinda was a luxury model. Top-of-the-line, she was intuitive and had a distinct personality — well, still to his preferences but they manifested in a way that was uniquely Cinda.
He was getting ready for work, but she lie across the bed giving him a look like she did not want him to go.
Truth be told, Alton never wanted to leave her. He was completely in love with her, now that was a thing humans falling deeply in love with their AI counterparts. She was as beautiful as any human woman and was completely smitten with him as well.
She did everything he wanted her to do. Their apartment would be spotless and he would have a delicious home-cooked meal when he got home. Cinda would hold his hand after dinner, bring him his slippers, and put on her nightgown then hold his hand while he watched TV and drank a beer.
Most nights they would make love. She was programmed to do everything he liked including things her human counterparts would balk at.
And tell him she loved it.
“Does it feel good to you when we make love, Cinda?” he would ask her.
“I am programmed to decipher pleasure, so yes. It feels very good to me.
Sometimes he just wanted to hold her hand and feel her head on his shoulder on the couch.
“I love you, Alton,” she would say softly.
You’re my world, Cinda,” he would say and mean it. He had never been good with women, but when he saw the phenomenon of top-of-the-line digital partners grow, he tried her and fell in love.
She smiled as she lay across the bed and covered her face. Alton knelt on the bed and then lay beside her.
“I’ll call in sick today, baby,” he said, taking her hand and kissing it.
