Even with all that is happening in the world today, I can still find gratitude as I reflect on the past year.

  1. Seven years have passed since my son lived on the streets, suffering from a mental illness. He still could be in that horrific situation but he is not. He is stable, has finished school, and is about to start a job.
  2. My family has been spared from COVID.
  3. I have a home.
  4. I have not gone hungry.
  5. I am healthy.

I am grateful for all of it.

I experienced unrelenting dark times for many years, but hope pulled me through. I know I am fortunate to be in this position and take none of it for granted.

Once I crawled my way out of the troubles, what mattered in life wasn’t complicated at all.
