Tongue-Tied and Lip-Locked

A free-verse poetic attempt to describe an unnamed feeling

I can’t say it; I can’t.

My lips aren’t tied Like the cripplingly dry ribbon ends Of a chastity belt.

And My arms swing dance, Artful in desperation To play the other’s side -

Like partners in orgasmic love Try

To crawl inside one another, When holding hands Beneath soaked sheets doesn’t feel close enough.

I can’t loosen the song From my throat’s channeling Depths,

Any more than I can translate a Sob’s drippings or Sorrow’s choking grip.

~A poem written by Chloe Paulina Hawes
