On 6 February 2023, I wrote about the 101st anniversary of the Itaewon crowd crush that claimed more than 150 lives.

It’s 18 May 2023, and today marks the 202nd anniversary.

Time flies, but wounds are not healed.

On 16 May 2023, the grieving families of the Itaewon accident held a rally at the monument in front of Seoul City Hall to mark the 200th day after the tragedy.

The grieving families have refused to cooperate with the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s call to voluntarily remove the memorial altar.

Why?

Because the folks want the truth about the tragic tragedy.

Late actor Lee Ji-han’s mother vowed to battle to the end to find out what happened to her son, who passed away at 24 on the eve of the Halloween holiday.

“I will fight for the truth until I find out exactly what happened on that day. That is what a parent should do,” she said.
