Today I FINALLY Hit 4,000 Followers!
Why does it feel so anti-climatic?

Whew! I finally made it to the 4,000 follower mark, after months of simply teetering on the brink.
In one particular month, I was close by less than 20 followers, but then something happened and I experienced a huge drop.
What exactly happened?
Hell if I know.
I just noticed one day, that I was suddenly needing damn near another 100 followers, before getting to the coveted number of 4,000.
Well, today it happened, and quite frankly, I’m about as excited as I get, watching the water boil for my Cream of Wheat.
It’s not that I’m ungrateful for the follows, because I’m not. But I have come to realize that the numbers don’t really mean a hill of beans around here.
- Not the thousands of followers…
- Not the hundreds of stories…
So just what does matter?
Honestly, I’m still trying to figure that out, as is indicated by my latest story and request to readers.
I’ve got a writer survey running, in hopes of finding some viable solutions to counteracting our low stats and earnings.
As soon as I have something meaningful to report, rest assured, I’ll let all of you know.
But in the meantime, I appreciate each and every follower who actually manages to read at least one or two of my stories each week.
Anti-climatic or not, it’s still pretty cool to see that 4K underneath my name. 👇🏻

Final Thoughts
When it comes to writers on Medium and the various milestones we try hard to reach, sometimes it can be so exhilarating when you finally achieve your goals.
So, I apologize, if in any way, this brief story has managed to burst someone’s bubble, because they were excited about their rising numbers.
It’s not only your business and your choice, if you want to get excited about your story output, or growing number of followers.
It’s also your right, to feel however you choose to feel about the progress you’re making on Medium, even when it seems like it’s just in vain.
But whether you happen to have 40, 400, or 4,000 followers, just be happy that there is at least a handful of those numbers, who will genuinely read what you write, and appreciate the stories you publish.
