To Work Towards Your Dreams or Not
Those little spins add up
“The difference between winning and losing is most often not quitting.”
– Walt Disney
Good thing my dream of being a ballerina as a little girl changed; my hips in a tutu would be scary.
Our dreams change as we embrace life to the fullest. Everything is changing daily, whether we can visually see the changes with the naked eye or not.
Why do we feel less productive when our dreams seem to take a pivot or shift? Our dreams need to grow with us. If you had a dream five years ago and it is still vivid in your mind, maybe it’s worth revisiting and revising. There is some reason it hasn’t come to fruition.
Maybe it was a thought without much passion. Passion is the fuel behind any beautiful idea. Believing in our dreams is a job that only we can do.
Did you have a dream when you were going through a rough time in your life, but you have never gone back to the plan after your life started spinning again?
Hopes and dreams are what keep us getting up in the morning. If there wasn’t any coffee or I didn’t have my gifts, hopes, dreams, or talents, I figure why would I even want to get up again?
Is this why some people give up or become deeply saddened? Our challenges must make us stronger, not weaker. Our challenges are here to teach us, not to detain us.
Why then do we give our challenges the undue attention they often get? We need to learn to accept them as the true gifts they were meant to be. It’s hard because we can’t see the good right away, but with hope, we know it’s a matter of living that helps the currents of life to flow freely again.
I dream of a life of no worries, one without troubles, but in this lifetime, we know it cannot be. Yet we must remain hopeful, or all is lost.
Be cheerful
Dreaming is a state of cheerfulness. Being cheerful is a blessing to both the receiver and the people around them. We must learn to limit our time around the people who ransack our good cheer.
Not being in a cheerful state will zap even the least amount of creativity you might have. We are all creative, and everything we need to dream is within us. It just needs the right environment to bloom.
Our minds can either be a lovely floral garden or be crowded with weeds upon weeds, choking out any kind of cheerful creativity.
Does this mean that being cheerful is a choice? Of course, there are life’s devastating circumstances that rain on our fragrant gardens from time to time, but we must learn to shift our minds back to a cheerful state to see ahead of us on this path of life.
Focus forward
It’s OK to take a rest in the garden for a while. Take time to heal correctly along the way, or sadness lingers and holds us back alongside the rows of weeds or thistles. We must shift our sadness back to the vast array of flowers.
Our dreams might form a bit in our past, but they are changing daily with us to stay current. Spending time dreaming throughout your day is essential to stay up to date. Do you think Disney World just happened? No, and as long as creative minds are working there – Disney will never be finished!
“We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
– Walt Disney
Little pieces
Life is like a board game. There are rules and pieces to move towards a goal. We can’t expect to win a game in one move; the same goes for accomplishing our dreams either.
We must draw a card daily and decide our next move. We don’t need to jump in quickly. We can take our time, but the key to reaching our desired destinations is to move in a favorable direction.
Sometimes the only person who can decide that move is you. Other times, it might require help or guidance. However, you must know your genuine positive influencers in your lifetime.
Some individuals will not support you because they are incapable and unprepared in their headspace to do so. Therefore, we must stop making decisions based on what others think or do.
Loving support
Supporting others with their dreams may not always be a two-way street. Sometimes it might feel like you are going the wrong way on a one-way street, or you might make a turn that takes you to a dead end.
It doesn’t mean the dream is necessarily over; it just might need revising. Making changes along the way is going to be imperative to ever get to the outcome of your desires.
Where can you find support when you feel alone with your dreams? With Google at our fingertips, we should seek help from like-minded people.
Seeking information to help you remain in a cheerful mood is a must. Nothing good comes from a bushel basket of rotten apples, and all it takes is one to spoil the bunch. However, it only takes a few good apples to make a scrumptious apple pie.
Therefore, we only need a few good supporters to make a dent in our dreams. One small move in the best direction, even if we have to go back to square one, is the only way.
“First, think. Second, believe. Third, dream. And finally, dare.”
– Walt Disney
Right stance
When I was going through breast cancer, I decided to start writing. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but it was something I felt I needed to do. It took me a while to begin, but I needed to feel better both mentally and physically to write from a place of joy.
Last March, my best friend threw a jab at my writing for a bit. She ended our friendship out of what seemed to be the blue, but for her, it must have been brewing.
She said she couldn’t watch me follow my dreams when she wasn’t in a good place in her life. I thought she would have been one of my biggest supporters, but she was obviously in a dark, dry garden with nothing but poison ivy to give.
I wanted to throw in the towel but went for the finishing flag instead! However, I’m finding out our dreams are much like Disney’s. As long as we are willing to work on our current plans, there will always be the next level.
Trusting your gut for your every move is the only way to make it to the finish line. Believing in yourself must happen no matter what other people think of you. Dreaming like there aren’t any limitations is the only way to achieve new heights. You’re almost there! What might be your next move?
