To Those Who “Died” and “Met God”

My overarching question: IS GOD OMNIPOTENT?

Photo by Lanju Fotografie on Unsplash

I have been tormented as to the nature of God since I was a child. Assuming S/He is all-powerful, I say God is monstrous for not only permitting evil but also for wreaking it (i.e., “Acts of God,” agonizing death from cancer, abuse of children …).

I’ve read countless stories of Near-Death Experiences wherein one was drawn toward “The Light” and felt the awesome love of “God,” but no one has mentioned taking the opportunity to ask Him the hard questions. If you have been there and done that, please enlighten me as to the answers.

Top question: Is God omnipotent?

If so, I won’t bother to ask why He allows — worse, instigates— the sundry ills of the world: there is no answer that would satisfy me.

Update 7/31/23: Report from those who’ve been there …
