Travel Series

To Those Weird Experiences on the Road

What has been your weirdest experience so far?

Photo by willis henderson on Unsplash

This week’s travel prompt is directly inspired by one of the articles that Alvin T. wrote. He has shared many great pieces and if you’ve read last week’s picks, you’ll also see the following story.

His story made me remember one of the times when I visited a small town in southern Mexico. As we were heading to our destination, we stopped to stretch out, have a break, and have some local food but as the night swept in…we saw many but I mean many people gathering around the central kiosk.

We asked what was happening and the people told us that there was a special event where you had boys and girls trying to find each significant other. The weird part about this was that someone told us that the men had to ask a laddy out by handing over a big stash of cash! I mean what?! The girls either accepted or rejected the offer but man…was this concept weird for me…

And it was an event that was held once a year and we coincidentally got to that town on that same day. A trip to laughably remember.
