To Mass Follow or Grow Organically, That Is the Question

Yay! I appreciate everyone who got me to this point

But here comes the dilemma:

To mass follow to build my follower count or grow organically?

So I’ve recently just got my first 100 followers.

What I noticed is that a lot of the people whom I have come up with; have follower counts that have increased significantly

And when I look at their following, it is sometimes 10 to 20 times the amount of those who are following them

Now it’s not like size matters right?

But I read an article that stated that growing organically is the best way on medium, but then it feels like the consensus is to mass follow.

But I'm not sure of the benefits

So I guess I'm just putting this out here on behalf of all the confused newcomers. We don't know what to do.
