To be RICH or MISERABLE. That is the question.
Which rich are happy?
If you are like me, you have grown up with the limited mindset that rich people are unhappy. I grew up with these mindsets:
- Rich people are unhappy.
- They cheat on their partners.
- They are not good friends or partners.
- Nothing satisfies them anymore.
I don’t know if it is because I believed in this or if it was the reality, but I have met rich people exactly like this.
So subconsciously, I didn’t want to be rich.
I kept looking at rich people. I didn’t like the life they had.
For example, I knew someone who had a bracelet worth 1 million dollars.
He had literally everything.
He had at least 10 cars that I know of. Houses (should I say palaces?) all around the world and everything that you can think of.
Let me show you behind the scenes a little.
This guy couldn’t go anywhere alone because he feared travelling alone. So wherever he went, he had friends (!) that he paid to accompany him. His friends were literally on free vacation with him. He paid everything because he needed them around. He even couldn't sleep alone.
He had a family with a child. He wasn’t happily married and loyal. Some days, his stress level would be so unbearable that he would shut himself down. No one would reach him for days. He would just sleep in a hotel room so he could rest his mind.
He was extremely rich, but not happy.
His life obviously didn’t seem attractive to me.
This was not the richness I wanted.
After I started to question, What is richness really?
It took me some time to work on my limited mindset.
When I worked on my limited mindset, I figured out it didn't have to be this way.
It was wrong.
I could be rich and generous, trustworthy, a good wife, and a good person. Most importantly, a happy person...
Anthony Robbins says;
“Success is doing what you want to do, when you want, where you want, with whom you want, as much as you want.”
We can replace “happiness” in this description as well.
Happiness is doing what you want to do, when you want, where you want, with whom you want, as much as you want.
Can you feel it?
This is the happiness for me. This is the success.
Of course, that guy wasn't happy.
He had money, but he didn't have control over his life. His business was controlling him.
Now I know what I really want in life.
I want to do whatever I want to do when I get up, whenever I want, wherever I want, and with whom I want.
This is my ultimate goal.
While getting closer to it, I will enjoy every bit of the journey.
Life is beautiful.
Remember, it is not about goals. It is about being on the road.
Don't forget to enjoy the ride!
