Tired of Writing Prompts? Good. Here’s Another One

It’s about a tree.

I enjoyed your responses to my last prompt so much, I thought I would throw another one out there, and tag five more writers from my lists of followers and the people I follow. Here are the lucky five: Kerry Martin Keno Ogbo Kazzac Christine Rawley Adam Luaces. Best of luck!

Please don’t feel obligated, and if you are not on the list you are still always welcome to participate. It will be a pleasure to read the responses. Please tag me so I can find and read your response.

The prompt is simple: Write about the tree in the picture.

I wrote a poem. Yours can be poetry, short story, etc.,.

For those that have included me in their prompts, I am working on them and will finish them soon. Thank you for thinking of me.

The Tree

I saw this tree and thought it was me.

It had a face but it had no place.

It looked tired and old, not the least bit bold.

It stood tall, with a little stoop but it never bent and there was no droop.

It had been there long but still appeared strong.

It’s watchful eyes full of emotion and old cries.

I soon called “it” a “he” for the more I looked, the more it was me.

He was majestic in height still carried some fight.

He watched over us all from his perch so tall.

He made some feel secure but others were still unsure.

Soon, I walked on but felt something was gone.

It was strong, the urge to turn, like a calling, a yearn.

But I continued to wander, lost in my ponder.

While he continued his task, my return, unable to ask.

Chuck Roast tries to write Satire and Humor. Sometimes other stuff, too. This is some of that “other stuff,” with a modicum of humor. But one thing he likes is comments from readers to interact with. Please feel free to leave a comment, Or, if you write your own story about the prompt, please tag me. I’d love to read them, and comment back to you.

PS: If you enjoyed this story, here’s a subtle push towards my newsletter. When you sign up with your email, I’ll send you some original, never before published content, and some links to my Medium stuff as soon as I finish with this medical crap. Thanks to Kristi Keller for the inspiration for the wording of this blurb.
