Tiny Tidbits
Growing my personal brand
I recently started a professional Instagram account, in which I share daily tidbits about life and living. The topics range from being human to mental health, to coaching, counseling, and empowerment; words of wisdom from both my schooling and life experience.
I created the page as an extension of my other efforts on social media alongside Medium, Facebook, and Twitter to create an online presence; to have a professional footprint in cyberspace, and to create my personal brand as I set sail with the next phase of my career.
I’ve been working on figuring out who I am and what I want to be when I grow up for a long time, so creating my personal brand has been a work in progress.
I’m happy to report that by 46 years of age after two divorces, four degrees, two children, a handful of cross-country relocations, several careers, and many life transitions — I am more grounded than ever in who I am, in what I want, and in what I stand for.
I am grounded in my values, yet forever open to the lessons and gifts that life brings as it ebbs and flows. I am open to magic and miracles, to love and to joy, and I am no stranger to pain — sitting with it when it comes and allowing it to take me and envelop me as I break and rebuild once more. I believe that we are all capable of choosing, creating, and living the lives we imagine.
I stand for people having it all; living lives in which anything is possible, living the lives of our dreams. #yesyoucan
I deeply believe in transparency, vulnerability, and authenticity — in being known as we are. I believe in using our voice to assert ourselves in this world, to stand up for what is important to us, to sing, to laugh, to share, and to shine as we each do! I preach self-acceptance, self-awareness, self-care, and self-love, as I practice each in my own life. I’m rooted in love, which grows from within, for we must be fiercely in love with ourselves first before giving or receiving love from others.
I believe in completing our pasts and then looking forward into our futures to inform our being in the here and now and I am deeply committed to us all living empowered, kick-ass lives that we love.
This is, in a gist, who I am and as the Greatest Showman song goes…
I’m not scared to be seen I make no apologies, this is me.
To date, I have channeled this energy and shared myself with others in person through coaching (and soon-to-be therapy), and through my writing here on the platform (and soon-to-be in print — I hope/plan). I have done so sparingly in bite-sized ways on Twitter and in some mid-point version on Instagram where I post a meaningful image, quote, or poem along with my commentary, or rather words of wisdom if I may.
Each of these Instagram posts are their own mini-story; bite-sized, but with tons of flavor!
And so I’ve decided to birth a little experiment and to share those mini-stories here, synthesized into a weekly ‘Tiny Tidbit’ story (coming soon)— a collection of the week’s posts, or maybe a best-of, we’ll see how it goes!
Of course, if you’d prefer these one bite at a time, please follow me on Instagram here. Either way, I look forward to sharing myself with you, engaging with you, and playing together in this game called life where everybody wins if they want to!
