Time to Talk up a New Conspiracy
It is baffling to observe the continued resistance of governments (mostly from western developed countries), corporations, elites, the media and portions of the largely misinformed public. These disparate bodies deny or sidestep the indisputable scientific facts pointing at the disasters we are carving out for ourselves and most other life forms on our lonely blue planet. Personal comfort and profit first, and damn the rest.
Cleverness is not in short supply, and besides the evidence, many of our cleverest unashamedly use their quick intelligence to subvert, deflect and sabotage the obvious solutions available to divert a cataclysm waiting just over the horizon for the human race. Why one will have to ask, is that?
Here comes the conspiracy.
Most technologically advanced and economically powerful Nations reside in the Northern latitudes, Europe, the United States of America and Canada. They have attained this questionably elevated position through the rape and plunder of the southern lying Nations natural resources, which continue to contribute heavily towards their much-vaunted GDP. An unfair advantage, some may argue but integral to accepting the status quo we are blindly educated in and submerged within. Simplistic, you may shout, but not entirely untrue.
These Northern nations believe that they will be spared the worst ravages of an alarmingly warming planet mostly stoked from their fossil fuel furnaces and greedy consumptive lifestyles — a balmy Sunday on Brighton beach, perhaps. While the brown and black peoples of the world burn and drown, the privileged buggers sporting a measured voice of reason will live high on the hog with the benefits of these new-fangled green technologies. This rosy view for them may well turn out to be a hellish fantasy, but that debate will have to wait for another conspiracy.
Whether true or not, a rumour circulated that unnamed British government ministers allegedly voiced callous jokes that, alas, the pandemic would help fix the pension problem for them. In the same vein, could the climate collapse sort out the population problem? Since it’s those southern devils breeding the most children, then it is only right and proper that their lands burn and flood, that they suffer food and fresh water shortages — that biblical disease descends on their heads like retribution from the almighty. They need thinning out, after all, for the betterment of those more deserving of god’s country, no doubt. An opportunity, they think, waiting to happen.
And if their lands become uninhabitable? What’s the problem with that? The West, the inheritors of the earth’s bounty, is sitting pretty with the solution — technology. They have the means and wherewithal to mine the very surface of harsh, inhospitable planets, so why not these abandoned lands? If no one lives there, then those pesky laws and ethical considerations are no longer a barrier to the biggest land grab in history.
To top it off, isn’t this a fine opportunity to end this racism debacle as well?
God help us all!
