Time to Face the Sun
September Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Shadows”
Face the sun, leave shadows behind.
My favourite animals are meerkats, so I spent a good while gushing over how cute they are on our recent visit to the local zoo.
One thing I noticed is that they all faced the sun the entire time (except for when a noise startled them). They just sat there and one after the other joined the line-up to just look up into the sun. Kind of like flowers, they too faced the sun.
Behind them, their shadows stretched long. Out of their sight, they kept facing forward.
I think there is a life lesson somewhere in there — about how we need to face forward and focus on the positive, rather than look back and dwell in our shadows.
We all have them, shadows that stretch over our lives. It’s important that we all also have a source of light that we can focus on, and work towards. Light always wins over shadows.
