Summary

In "ARC OF THE IMMORTALS Book 2: Time Rifts-23: Cris-Cross," the crew of the Mu experiences a harrowing journey through time rifts and dimensions, confronting the dangers of quantum entanglement and the complexities of their own emotions, as they navigate a reality-bending crisis aboard their ship.

Abstract

The narrative unfolds with the crew of the Mu ship navigating through a series of time rifts, which leads to a perilous merging and separation of their vessel with another. The characters, including Touzdae, Jac, and Captain Tommalar, grapple with the physical and emotional toll of their experiences, oscillating between pain and unity. They explore the concept of quantum entanglement and the polarities of love and hate, seeking a neutral element to stabilize their situation. The crew uses special goggles to perceive an alternate dimension where another Mu exists. Jac, with the help of Vishop Malley, embarks on a dangerous mission to cross over to the other dimension, assisted by a team of specialists. The story culminates in a transformative encounter between Jac and an enigmatic being named Gypsum, who reveals the significance of Jac's unique experiences and the interconnectedness of their existences.

Opinions

  • The author suggests that the emotional spectrum, particularly the dichotomy of love and hate, plays a crucial role in the fabric of quantum realities.
  • The use of technology, such as the goggles and handheld viewers, is presented as a means to bridge the gap between dimensions, highlighting the importance of human ingenuity in comprehending the incomprehensible.
  • The character of Gypsum, with their shape-shifting abilities and knowledge of Jac's past, implies a deeper understanding of the universe and the characters' places within it.
  • The theme of interconnectedness is woven throughout the story, emphasizing the idea that actions and emotions in one reality can have profound effects on another.
  • The crew's reluctance to repeat the painful process of merging and separating dimensions reflects a collective desire for stability and understanding amidst chaos.

Recap of TR 22 Entangled: The two ships quick and slow merged with one another, flesh shared flesh and flesh in metal part way. Back and in agony.

Touzdae and Jac shared a meal in dreamtime in the past aboard Nez Fish. and were pulled out into their respective dimensions — into the chaos.

They went back to separating and merging, merging and separating. And came back intact. Captain Tommalar said: “Let’s not do that again.”

Jac and Touzdae go back to dreamtime. Discuss a problem? A solution? Love? Love and it’s opposite emotions — fear, hatred, rage are brought up.

Jac and Tommalar discuss quantum entangled realities. Love-hate and other polarities are used without satisfying results.

Suke and the Entu monks introduce the neutral element.

Touzdae issues the command. And they — Jump.

The Current Episode:

Blink; two identical versions of the Mu, side by side. Blink — one version jumped back into ordinary space. Blink — blink. Switching places. Tuning resonant frequencies to match. Blink — two ships — mirrors of the other. Each fades out of the other’s reality.

“Well,” Tommalar is tentative. “Well it looks like we’re inside the arc, and so are they. If these instruments are reading right.”

“Everyone put on the goggles,” DKr. Vishop Malley suggested as he put on his goggle-set. Tommalar, the Executive Officer Reypat, Counselor Boygo, Suke, and Touzdae stood forward of the Fuge. It was one of the observation chambers. They were under a massive plasma viewport. Malley activated all the goggles. They saw the other dimension with the giant Mu close by. Without the goggles, no Mu, with goggles — the other Mu.

“I can design a handheld viewer so we can see the other Mu,” Phorae volunteered. Others wanted in on it too. Jac was silent.

Phorae pulled him aside after the brew-ha-ha settled.

“Here are the places on the ship where the veil is thin between our dimension and the other Mu’s dimension.” Geordae told Jac.

“What about here?” Jac pointed at the 500-foot sphere in the disputed territory — a no man’s land aboard the Mu. He used a three-dimensional pointer in the schematic map of the ship. “Are you not including this place because it’s considered too dangerous for ingress?”

“Yes there is a portal on a catwalk in the middle of the sphere, but you’d could die — as in killed or or worse maimed. It’s an extremely dangerous place.”

“It’s the only place that has the thinnest veil between dimensions. Yes? No?”

“Yes, it has the thinnest veil. Easiest to cross,” Phorae hung his head.

“Good. Going alone is the best bet.”

“What? No!”

Jac laughed.

“Your life isn’t funny to me,” Phorae said.

“The cats there will protect me, they did before when I came out from being on the other Mu,” Jac spoke on the down-low and fast.

“Will you be able to help me cross over, Vishop? I mean Malley?” Touzdae asked.

“I have several ideas I’m working on. Give me 24 hours. Join me in my lab then.”

Jac was forced to take a small team for protection.

Team Members: - a female sniper, - a male soldier expert in hand-to-hand combat and explosives, - a tema an expert in hand-to-hand combat & interference using electromagnetism.

Touzdae met Malley at the hatch to his lab as he walked down.

“On time, as always, I like that,” DKr. Malley smiled and they went within.

They sat and Malley made tea.

Touzdae took a gulp. She swallowed while choking on the tea.

“This is Gaza Root in this mixture. Isn’t it?”

“You know I couldn’t tell you. If I told you the Shambha Ritual would be desecrated.”

“This is the gateway into other worlds, isn’t it?”

Jac, the three-person team descended from above through access ports at the top of the sphere. As they emerged they opened fire in three directions. They surrounded Jac. He was their core. Bullets pierced their body armor. All three fell on Jac. He was unconscious under them. Three aliens — very short and stocky dragged Jac away.

When he awoke he was ensconced in a soft recliner held by a forcefield.

An armed guard depressed a switch on the bulkhead and trained his gun barrel on Jac. In a moment an unusual individual entered. He wasn’t sure if the olive-skinned person was male or female or of its age. It almost paraded itself as if it were superior. He stopped and stared into Jac’s eyes. In a few moments, he felt him change and become a woman. It was then he saw it.

‘You know something,’ he heard its words in his mind.

“You’re an Entu Monk, or you used to be.”

“That discipline is nothing to me now,” he said aloud. The gentle power of his voice impaled Jac against the back of the chair. He turned and gestured silently to the guard who left. Hatch closed and bolted locked from the outside.

“I am so much more than what you see. I am Gypsum and always have been. And you are so very special. Even while I was a monk I had heard of you. I felt you when the transformation occurred and I knew we would meet.”

“Are you speaking of my merging with my split self?” Jac regarded this strange being and watched as he morphed into a female.

She sat down in a chair, a chair that hadn’t been there a moment before. Do not bore me with the obvious, her thought was dismissive and flippant.

Transfixed, Jac hadn’t noticed that she was rising up off the chair. He explained it as her standing up, but she was levitating off the floor. He looked straight into her eyes and she felt familiar like a twin sister.

As she looked back at him the female in her morphed into male. This was so disconcerting he felt he was looking in the mirror at himself. When he looked at her face he saw someone else again.

Halfway between the ceiling and the floor, there was a blinding flash of light.
