Recap Continued: He feels her having been taken and is devastated. He docks with Touzdae’s primary Hopper. He is overwhelmed with the contents of her time bubble and dissociates. He is brought back to the present through Comsa’s com.

He retrieves her logs and flight recorder. He is thrown back into his Hopper by an unseen force. The joined Hoppers fall into a becalmed zone of the riffs and he has a flash of meeting Touzdae for the first three times.

Communications with Comsa and Geordae are broken up by static. He arrives back at the station with light attractor beams generated by Phorae. Jac sees Tau run from the hangar to the control room.

He goes up the stairs to the control room where Bendel punches him.

The episode begins:

Touzdae arrived at the far end of the rift in a stable region.

Hivbrit, is there a larger Hivbrit that watches over all sentient beings, everywhere? Her Hivbrit laughed and responded:

No. There is the Elohim. Elohim is profound love of the highest vibration.

I wish to hear more of this Elohim when my time is right, she thought to her Hivbrit. But will you ask the Elohim to look over Jac and keep him safe?

No answer. A few minutes passed.

There, chartreuse, purple, soft red, green time streams, Hivbrit indicated.

“I see it,” Touzdae thought and said aloud. She angled the secondary hopper to pick up the streams while her primary Hopper parsed them.

The time bubble formed and in she went.

Touzdae watched as future Jac and her future self both came home filled with joy.

“You go first,” Jac told her.

“No you,” Touzdae said. Jac laughed with his whole body. He bowed down sweeping his right hand and arm left to right.

“Yes, fine,” Touzdae laughed too. “I will go first.”

She sat and Jac too.

“His name is Po,” she beamed as Jac nodded vigorously in agreement. “He is a lively fellow. So alive I had to sit to hear him.”

“ — A traveler,” Jac interrupted. Jac turned on an audio recorder.

“Oh, there’s that,” Touzdae said, and continued. “He said his Hivbrit told him that we are unique amongst the many couples on any of the Antarian systems.”

“What were you doing when he came in?”

“I was trading favors for a powerful crystal. You?”

“I was picking a gourd for dinner tonight,” he said as Touzdae let out a short laugh.“Did he comment on the vegetable?”

“Yes, he did.”

“And, and?”

“He said it reminded him of his travels like a skipstone skimming a lake.”

“Did he say how long he would be here? Anything of his final destination?” Touzdae was cautious and eager. “Did you ask him?”

Touzdae, you know that is not the way of knowing, Jac’s thoughts had the feel of shock in them.

Apologies, yes I am well aware of tradition and keeping to it. I know you Jac. You break with tradition sometimes, she thought to him.

“I would never break with this tradition, not this time,” Jac said aloud. I thought you would know me better after all the time we’ve been together.

“Did he say anything else to you? Does he have a preference of who conceives, carries, and births him?”

“He did not say about conception. He said shared-alternating carry and shared birth.”

“A shared delivery. That is very rare.”

“Hmm, yes…”

Jac and Touzdae traded their prestigious ancestral bungalow in the central city of Antares Prime for a small house on a sliver of land by a river. It was between two mountains near a small town named Ola. One of the features of the river was its lights at night. Ola was well known for the floating lights. The lights would emerge from deep in the ground and float to the surface. Downstream the lights gathered in pools before tumbling down short waterfalls. Part of their cabin was under one of the longer waterfalls of lights. The rest of the cabin had a view of the pond. At night the lights twinkled as fireflies danced between them in the pond. They drew small streams of light connecting one light pod to another in a bounty of light dancing.

One late night Touzdae awoke with Jac already awake by her side, though groggy.

“It’s almost time,” she said.

“Yes,” Groggy Jac said falling off to sleep.

In the early morning before dawn in the darkest hour, they made love. Observer Touzdae sorely temped to merge with her future self. She felt her bliss and ecstasy as conception occurred. She felt all the stars. She felt all and everything, She felt the presence of Po.

Golden sparkles from Touzdae fell across the room from the ceiling over the two of them. In the aftermath of lovemaking and conception bliss, they entwined with one another. A hint of light crept in and the light pods in the waterfall extinguished themselves.

The view ripped away; a future self wandering through inert huge, heavy machinery. The bubble popped and Touzdae displaced to the Hopper, feeling wronged.
