WEEK-END PROMPT
“Time Races by So Fast!”
The good times just keep rolling!
The arc of time swirls through the world on music notes, connecting me to memories that make me smile, wiggle my toes and want to dance.
With that in mind, I have compiled a list of some of my favorite songs to honor “TIME” with a nod to the artists. It’s not a real list, outlined with bullet points or numbers. No, I’ve woven my favorite songs into tiny vignettes with time as the focus….
And what would be one of your favorites?
“If I Could Turn Back Time”, I’d ask Cher to give me an empty perfume dispenser so I could bottle my unique air freshener to lighten the energy. I’d call it “Time in a Bottle” and my first customer would be Jim Croce.
Because it would become such a hot commodity, I’d begin to roll in the money and “Let the Good Times Roll”. I’m bettin’ that BB King would approve.
With money in my pocket, I’m pretty sure that “Time is on my Side” so I can take a walk down the graveled path and avoid all The Rolling Stones. If I get a bit bored I might start picking up some Styx, especially if I have “Too Much Time on my Hands”.
And at the end of the week, it’s always good to relax on a Saturday in the park. But the afternoon is speeding by and it’s getting dark here in Chicago already. “And hey, “Does Anybody Really Know What Time it is?”
Because I’m over at the train station waiting by the Grand Funk Railroad and feeling sad and lonely. Sometimes it’s a “Bad Time To Be In Love”.
But I “Haven’t Got Time for the Pain” because I’m hoping to catch up with Carly Simon and unravel the mystery of who is so vain.
I get lost in the mystery and “Time After Time” I’ve had Cyndi Lauper reminding me that if I’m lost, there’s someone out there for me.
These days I’m happy, but I want to let Billy Joel know that for “The Longest Time”, I didn’t believe I would ever find lasting love. It seemed too elusive and unattainable. But one day, the perfect guy for me walked into my life. I trust that “Maybe This Time” love won’t end and Michael Murphy will be right.
I’m so crazy in love these days, I feel like Tennille singing with the Captain “Do That to me One More Time”.
However time unfolds for me, when my life eventually draws to an end, I want to look into my loved ones’ faces (sorry I didn’t name my kids Bill or Jennifer)and let them know that “I’ve Had The Time of my Life”.
I have danced through the decades, sung through sad and joyous moments and have treasured my life.
I’m ready to wrap up this Medley of my favorites, but wait! Can you “Give Me Just a Little More Time” because the Chairmen of the Board want to add a few more ideas.
