Tiktok: The Pros and Cons

Well, my kids have gotten me hooked on Tiktok… what a wonderfully amusing, oddly satisfying waste of time. Now don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of motivational and educational stuff on there, but most of us are watching the fun stuff. And that’s ok right now. We need a way to cope with the craziness in the world, we need some happiness.

There are soooooo many people all doing the same dances, and sometimes I feel like I have watched the same darn video over and over again. But, I will say this about Tiktok dances, it is nice to see people being active and getting their bodies moving despite being stuck in the house. It takes time and effort to learn all those dance moves.

As nice as it is to escape for a little while, it is important to remember not to live there. Most of us still have kids that need us (though some of us are making videos with our kids, which is so much fun for us and our children), and other life responsibilities to attend to. We still have our daily chores to do like laundry and yard work.

On the flip-side of the same coin, I can also see how this relatively new platform could also be used as an extremely effective marketing tool.

One thing to keep in mind though is that people are not going on Tiktok to watch product commercials, but it is a super fun way to put yourself out there, build an audience, and educate people about what you do.

When it comes to marketing a product or service, people want to buy from real people, so this platform can be a really great way to introduce yourself to your target audience and let them know that there is far more to you than just fingers tapping away on a keyboard advertising products. Potential clients/customers can get to know your personality and know whether they vibe with you or not. This is especially important for people who are in the coaching industry. As they say, your vibe attracts your tribe, so using a video platform such as this one can definitely work for you.
