Tiktok Accounts That Will Restore Your Faith in Humanity

Image: https://unsplash.com/@solenfeyissa

TikTok is used for a lot of things. For most people, using it as a means of restoring their faith in humanity isn’t at the top of that list. But, if you play your algorithm right, it just might. Believe it or not, visiting these accounts are now a part of my mental health routine. I cut my mindless scrolling in half and visit pages that I know will boost my faith in myself and the world around me when I need it.

  1. For Gentle Hearts

A writer at heart, Alaska Gold writes poems to herself and You, the viewer, about life. Each video contains peaceful clips of Alaska’s life: her twirling in her adorable outfits, pouring tea, opening her window, etc. With each clip that progresses, the words of her poems appear on the screen as she is reading them. In the background, there is soft music playing. Among her videos, there are lessons of forgiveness, kindness, and patience with yourself. Her poems have gentle encouraging passages such as “In case you forgot, there are people who remember you.” Her account is nothing short of heartwarming and always reminds me to take it easy on myself after a hard day.

2. Lady With a Hassy

In true Humans of New York fashion, this photographer takes photos of people in the streets, but with a Hasselblad 500CM camera made in 1981. Aside from producing beautiful photographs, this talented photographer also captures her subjects being their most authentic selves. She kindly asks them for any advice they might have for her followers and herself. Some of the advice given by these folks is quite possibly the most wholesome content I have ever seen. These words of wisdom have pumped the breaks on my days and made me think about life from a new perspective.

3. Dawn Poems

With a focus on feminine energy and healing from trauma, Dawn reads her poems and journal entries to her audience with passion and intention. Her clips are filled with her everyday activities such as frolicking through a field with her girlfriends, crying, and surfing. Ultimately, a young girl’s quest to heal and enjoy the present moment makes it somehow easier for the ones watching trying to achieve the same.

4. Jazzajilo

Jazzajilo, a legend in the New York City subways and streets known for bringing joy and festivity to the city. With all the negativity surrounding NYC right now, this man makes sure to go out there every single day and put a smile on someone’s face. He also decorates his stage with dancing stuffed animals, lights, and uplifting signs that encourage people to come over and dance to his music. His energy alone brings people together.

5. Metropolitanisms

There’s something so soothing yet entertaining about people watching. This account is a series of still videos that record a moment in time in places like NYC, backed with beautiful music.
